A catcher that could be an interesting acquisition for someone would be Pudge. Right now he's looking for starter's money and a starting job. Neither of those appear to be on the horizon for him. How cheap will he eventually sign? Would he go somewhere a starter is entrenched? I don't know. But Pudge as a back-up for 1-1.5 million wouldn't be a bad option.

Geo speaks all languages fluently.

Geo has proven he doesn't even have to speak to communicate.

All catchers have that ability though

I'm fairly certain that the earliest ever form of communication was a man pointing at his junk, and now we've come full circle. It's beautiful in a way.

Gonna miss that sneaky power and ability to speak Spanish to Z.

Doesn't Soto speak Spanish? He was born in Puerto Rico.

And lives there in the offseason. He definitely speaks spanish.

I was sorta kidding, not really even thiking about Geo. Just remember how ESPN/whoever's announcers always thought that was such a crucial component of Henry's importance to the team. Maybe it was, but I doubt it made much difference.

Sources told ESPN's Buster Olney that the Padres have agreed to terms with Henry Blanco on a one-year, $750,000 contract.

The Padres lucked out in that the inferior player they preferred, Brad Ausmus, chose Los Angeles, clearing the way for them to sign Blanco. Blanco remains a very good defender, and he's managed OPSs in excess of 700 in his last two healthy seasons. Ausmus hasn't had a 700 OPS since 2000.

rotoworld is on it. haha. i just know there's some tainted 40yr old middle reliever writing all of this for them.
