One solution for these APRIL GAMES OF DOOM would be for Major League Baseball to start their season on the road. The Cubs should do much the same. I'd sacrifice a good deal of home games to start and end the year if it meant a huge slate of games in June and July. That's when Wrigley is at its best, so exploit it. But as mentioned, Minnesotans are tough bastids, they can handle a 45-degree game.

I'm sure warm weather cities would be excited to have less home games while people are on summer break.

i'm sure the Marlins would like fewer home games when it's 95 degrees with 95% humidity

Quick glance has them drawing better in the summer than April.

so 7000 fans instead of 2500?

every team draws better in the summer than April (unless they're on a Cleveland-esque home sellout streak)

Yeah, that's exactly my point.

so give the warm-weather teams two extra home series in April (with cold weather teams) and two fewer home series in May and call it good

Yeah. I mean, somebody has to play home games in April. Why not let it be the teams who are best equipped to do so by playing in a desert, subtropical region, or indoors? Making the Cubs shoulder the burden of filling seats in April isn't fair.

The first 2 weeks in April anywhere in the Midwest you are going to get the same thing. People really need to realize it does not remain in a constant state of cold in the Twin Cities. In December through February yes it does get bitterly cold. But it's really not that bad the rest of the year.

This same it gets so cold argument was said about the new University of Minnesota's stadium (TCF Bank stadium). If were talking December thought February you got an argument. I'll even say the first two weeks of March can get bad. Opening day in Chicago you bring a coat. Same thing goes for the new stadium in Minnesota.

I remember about 4 or 5 years ago going to a playoff game in Minnesota. I was walking around in shorts (it was 75 degrees) in Downtown Minneapolis. Struck up a conversation with an older gentleman and told him I was going to the game. His response was on such a beautiful day to bad you have to go inside to watch the game. I completely agreed.

Wasn't there a cost/benefit analysis somewhere that showed that a retractable roof for baseball in the upper midwest is an incredible waste of money?

Boy, do I hate Miller Park.

(Points and laughes at Milwaukee.)

I don't understand the pansies complaining about April weather.

I'd rather attend a subzero outdoor game then a perfect temperature game in a dome. Even if its baseball.

I wouldn't. Baseball is baseball.
