Yep Maclin announced today at a press conference. He completely broke down crying in the middle of it and walked away. It was pretty sad, but I'm ready to order my Bears Maclin jersey if they hold up their end of the bargain.

They were saying in one of the mock drafts we had a shot at him right?

I think he'll end up somewhere around that 15-20 range, so he could be there for our taking if Angelo/Lovie want him.

The only thing that scares me is he might not be big enough to be the big receiver we need and like Bennett will get benched all season

Maybe if Earl Bennett was faster than John Tait, he would have gotten on the field.

Well if Lovie's benching a top-20 talent because he's not 6-4 220 lbs, then we've got more problems than we thought.

As a Mizzou fan, I'll definitely miss Maclin. He was so much fun to watch. And I'd love the Bears to draft him. But it just doesn't seem like a Jerry Angelo move, which is ridiculous. After Angelo's press conference last week and his whole number 1 receiver crap, I just can't see the Bears drafting him, which is beyond stupid with the current Bears receiving corp.

I really want Crabtree for the Raiders, but I read somewhere that Al Davis doesn't like using high picks on WR's so I'm not exactly holding out hope.

Aaron Maybin won't be playing for Penn State next season: link.

Hopefully one of Brian Orakpo (extremely unlikely), Everette Brown or Aaron Maybin drops to the Bears at 18.

you can add (extremely unlikely) after maybin's name too

I think Maybin will end up going lower than Orakpo and Brown and I can't see 3 DEs going top 10 (which is my abritrary definition of extremely unlikely, apparently).

Russell, McFadden, Crabtree is a nice start towards building an offense. Does Oakland have an Oline right now?

Not exactly.

They have something. They call it an Oline. Its exact classification is open for debate.

Kinda like the Bears.

This time next year, I have a strong feeling I'll be seeing Eric Berry declaring for the draft.

Well, in April 2010, you'll be seeing him picked in the top 5. That should make you feel better.

Maybin will be an OLB in a 3-4, at least initially. Even he knows that, but his evaluation came back with a 1st round grade.

Unless you like your DE's at 240lbs.

He will surely impress with his speed at the workouts, but he has a really hard time putting on weight. I actually think he could slip to late 1st round, early 2nd, since 3-4 defenses are in the minority. But someone like Cleveland or Baltimore might trade up to take him in the teens.

I'm really starting to warm to the idea of Maclin at 18. But I don't think you can pick him over Michael Johnson or Everette Brown. I do like some of the 3rd/4th round DEs, but I don't want to wait that long to get one. I think there are other WRs that will be there in the 2nd or 3rd (Iglesias, Britt, Nicks, Massaquoi, Williams)

he's only 20 years old. i think he's such a good pass rusher that he'll be taken in the first half of the first round. pretty much everyone is looking for a speed DE right now. even if he is just a situational guy his first couple of years.
