Don Banks on CNNsi.com has the Bears as 13:

Chicago Bears

Don't label me a Bears believer just yet, but even if No. 4 reports to Minnesota, it'll be Chicago who upgrades its quarterback position the most among NFC North teams this season. My colleague Peter King had the Bears all the way up to No. 4 in his MMQB power rankings in May, but I'm not quite ready to go that ga-ga over Jay Cutler landing in the Windy City.

"I’ll be fine for the season,” Tillman told the Web site, speaking Tuesday from Halas Hall. “There’s no need to panic. When I panic, then you can panic. But I’m not panicking, so we’re good.

“[Things] happen. I’m just glad it happened now versus in the season. But I’m all right. I’m always optimistic."

Waiting for the day a player says, "I'm really screwed up right now. I'm pretty sure I will be out for longer than people think. I hate rehab and I know that won't go very well."

shameless ploy to miss training camp. All the better though as this team probably needs to be ready to get rid of Tillman by next season anyway.

You seriously think the guy is going to have back surgery in order to miss training camp? ....

Maybe he didn't even have surgery and he had his doctor just right him a note.

Or maybe he delayed the surgery until the end of July knowing that it would allow him to miss training camp.

Looks like Danieal Manning has impressed the staff enough to go into camp as the starting free safety....

I'm guessing that (even though they say it's not) this may have something to do with Peanut and the fact that CB will be a bit thin without Graham but who knows....

It didn't make sense all along that Payne and Steltz would play alongside eachother.

I'd love to see Graham back at corner, especially if that means Manning has taken the next step(s) forward.

I don't know. This sounds like a move made because of Tillman, not because of Manning.

Now they can have Graham @ CB with Vasher, and keep Bowman as depth.

True. We'll see if Manning can put it all together mentally because he has the skills to be an above average safety.

I just prefer Graham at corner rather than that safety nonsense they were talking about.

Consider the source, but...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/29/bobby-wade-says-urlacher-thinks-cutlers-a-[expletive]/

Bobby Wade says Urlacher thinks Cutler's a "[pansy]"

Well, now that one offseason NFC North quarterback drama emanating from Minneapolis has ended (we think), the football-following world needs a new one. Enter Vikings receiver Bobby Wade.

Wade told our pal Paul Allen of KFAN within the hour that, during an offseason trip to Vegas with Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, Urlacher expressed a not-so-flattering opinion of new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Basically, Wade said that Urlacher said that Cutler is a "[pansy]."

Urlacher has been the cornerstone of the Bears' defense since 2000; Cutler arrived via trade earlier this year.

We're told that a podcast of the remaks will be up soon at KFAN's web site.

We hope their hamsters are rested and fed.

Part of me doesn't really believe Urlacher is chummy enough with Bobby Wade to tell him something like this about his new teammate, but a part of me thinks Urlacher is enough of an a-hole to do this... If he did say it, Urlacher probably owes Wade an ass kicking.

Hard to say because right after the trade, Urlacher didn't seem all that excited, but I've heard since that he was, so who knows.

Non-issue. They're never on the field at the same time. I don't care if the entire defense hates the entire offense and vice-versa.

If it comes down to a not big enough for the two of them situation, there's no doubt in my mind who I'd want gone.

no kidding.

but i doubt it matters, even if he did say it. i imagine that Urlacher probably says that about just about every quarterback anyway.

No... Urlacher used to show a lot of love for Grossman... Orton too later on.

Publically...but who knows what is said when he and Bobby Wade get all crazy in Vegas.

I don't know if I trust anything profootballtalk (i.e. king of the wrongy-wrongs) says, nbc affiliation or not. But I guess if they have it on tape, that's different. Anyone got a link to the actual comments?

Also, David -- your linky no worky.

Edit: it's because NSBB won't allow the cuss word in the link through.

It's cause of the word filter... change [expletive] to what you think the real word would be. Or just go to PFT's home page.

Profootballtalk isn't saying it... they are quoting Bobby Wade, and there's audio of Wade that has been all over the radio for the last 45 minutes or so.
