Maybe foolishly, I'd rather Smith be down at the 5 so hopefully it could take Carolina 2-3 plays to get in the end zone causing the Packers to burn their TOs. But that's probably not a good idea. Just get the score I guess.

This is why they should have gone for it on 4th down from the one. I'd rather them have to go 70 yards to score then give them a chance to return the kick.

That is what makes it even more maddening. There is enough talent on defense that should allow the defense to be more creative. Bob Sander's conservative playcalling has seriously hindered what the play of the defense.
