3. 7-1 Florida

4. 9-0 Texas Tech

lol

I think it's even better that Florida is above Texas. Going by that poll, Texas beat number 6 (neutral field) and 8 (home) while losing on the road to the number 4 team, while Florida has beaten number 11 (neutral) and 15 (home) and losing at home to an unranked team with 4 losses. Clearly Florida should be ranked in front of them.

tim tebow is on pace to become the 9,087th quarterback in college history to throw for more than 2,000 yards and 20 TDs in ONE SEASON

Margin of victory the difference perhaps? Florida pretty much decimated numbers 11 and 15.

I'm not defending it, just bringing up a possibility.

i think people are being mean to meph. florida is the best team.

I agree. Seems obvious to me after watching them absolutely obliterate LSU and Georgia and seeing them outscore their last 4 SEC opponents by a total of 158 POINTS.

if only they had beaten crappy ole miss, then they could be ranked no. 1 and we could spare ourselves 12 pages of this crap every week

herbstreit said it best tonight. florida is the best team in the nation but you have to punish them for losing to ole miss.

and the entire time you've been posting with one hand while staring at a shirtless poster of tim tebow

better than a shirtless picture of Adam Dunn.

you took that poster down when he spurned the longhorns to play baseball OH WAIT you weren't a texas fan then, you were rooting for florida and, let's see, who else was good then, probably nebraska, they were pretty fass

Youre not a real sooner fan considering you get it on with a longhorn. Dont come down on me because you've got your problems.

i hope this isn't a kevin durant dig because we've officially adopted him and he only went to class at texas for one semester anyway

i have no idea if you follow the NBA or not. I certainly don't. So no, I wasn't playing that angle.

well then it appears i win

I'd rank them after today:

1. Bama

2. Texas Tech

3. Penn State

4. Texas

5. Florida

6. Oklahoma

Sounds about right to me. And good thing we have the BCS and no playoff. :?

Same here. I'm not in favor of jumping one team over another team who is in their bye week, but with all due respect to PSU fans, Texas Tech deserves to jump PSU in the BCS poll.

I'd put Penn State at No. 2 with Texas Tech at No. 3 because Tech's big win, while better, was at home while Penn State went on the road and beat Ohio State. I just don't think this win was convincing enough for Tech to jump Penn State. If Tech beats Oklahoma State next week, then I'll vault them over Penn State.

Fortunately for Penn State, I don't see Tech winning out so all they have to do is not screw up and they should be in the title game.

Here is what I have:

1. Alabama

2. Penn State

3. Texas Tech

4. Florida (not sure if they will really jump that high or not, could be very huge for Texas if they don't get passed)

5. Texas

6. Oklahoma

7. USC

8. Oklahoma State

Florida is closing in on USC. 103.9 to 102.6. Sagarin is a HUGE drop off after USC and Florida. Apparently USC and Florida are a touchdown better than Penn State.

Last Week in Parentheses, color denotes 4 week change. Green means huge upward movement (+3 points) and red means huge downward movements (-3 points)

1. 103.90 USC (1)

2. 102.61 Florida (2)

3. 96.02 Penn State (3)

4. 94.01 Texas (4)

5. 92.29 Oklahoma (5)

6. 90.62 Alabama (7)

7. 88.53 Texas Tech (9)

8. 87.80 Oklahoma State (8)

9. 87.77 Texas Christian (11)

10. 87.39 Missouri (6)

BCS Version

1. Texas Tech (10)

2. Alabama (2)

3. Texas (1)

4. Penn State (3)

5. Utah (7)

6. Oklahoma (8)

7. Florida (15)

8. Boise State (5)

9. Georgia (6)

10. Oklahoma State (4)

The worst computer poll for Florida has been Sagarin most of the season.

Some things that are interesting: SOS of Alabama, Texas Tech and Penn State

#56 Alabama

#64 Texas Tech

#66 Penn State

They've played schedules that are essentially the same in difficulty. Penn State's and Alabama's schedules aren't all that differently until the SEC Championship game.

What sucks for Texas is if they still make the Big XII championship game, are ranked #3 (behind #1 Alabama and #2 Penn State) they will face #10-15 Missouri and will win. No one will be all that impressed with the win. They already knew they would beat Missouri (who has been exposed quite a bit of late and may even stumble before then). If Florida's sitting there at #4 and kicks Alabama's ass like they're supposed to, they take out the #1 team in impressive fashion and will in all probability jump Texas.

Weird, the SEC jumped from #4 to #2 in one week and is only percentage points behind the Big XII.

Conferences:

78.48 Big XII

78.30 SEC

76.93 Big Ten

76.56 Atlantic Coast

73.36 Big East

72.90 Pac 10

The ACC's not as bad as people say, they just don't have elite teams. Everyone's decent. Ironically enough, Florida's win over Miami is looking better every week. Miami is top 25 by both predictor and bcs sagarin. Florida's loss to Ole Miss isn't looking all that bad. Ole Miss is ranked next to Kansas, at #31.

I am playing god with the Colley Rankings. I inserted in Miami over Virginia, Florida over Georgia, Texas Tech over Texas, Ole Miss over Auburn.

It spits out:

1. Texas

2. Alabama

3. Texas Tech

4. Florida

5. Penn State

And probability of running the table

61.7% Penn State

12.6% Alabama

9.3% Texas Tech

I agree completly, I think Texas needs to have a decent little cushion over Florida going into the Championship Weekend to have a shot. Pretty much all of the tie-breaker scenarios favor Texas should Tech lose one game, so I think they still have a good shot to get in.

Unless we have only two undefeated teams at the end of the regular season the BCS is primed to take another very large hit this year, Texas might just be one of the sacrificial lambs.

I'm almost rooting for what would be the most disastrous BCS result ever: an undefeated Penn State not playing in a championship game, while 1-loss Big 12 and SEC champions do. PSU then beats a 1-loss USC in a meaningless Rose Bowl.
