my parents are in ottawa for the fall (my dad is teaching up there this semester), and i'm going to visit for thanksgiving. i found out today that they bought tickets to the sens-leafs game on thanksgiving evening for my dad, grandfather and myself. i'm very excited.

the flyers played a john stevens special last night... dominated the thrashers the first two periods, outscoring them 3-1 and outshooting them 28-11, but then they sat around the third period and let the thrashers tie it, and had to get the win on a great end to end play by joffrey lupul. shots in the third period - atlanta 21, flyers 4.

Seriously? It was a gimmick hire, but man, I thought they'd let it ride a while.

 

Melrose pretty much talked to every mic put in front of him. And kudos to him for it. He basically said it was clear early on that the players had all the power and that they didn't want to be held accountable when they didn't play hard.

 

Doesn't say much for the TB players that they obviously quit on their coach barely 15 games into the season. Especially Lecavalier, who hasn't played well.

considering they played under tortorella forever, and he's always been known as a pretty harsh coach to play for, i think it speaks more to melrose than the players.

hahaha, scott hartnell is an idiot. with about 20 seconds left in regulation in a 3-3 game, a point shot by a flyer got blocked and set tampa on a breakaway. hartnell was chasing from behind and had lost his stick, so he threw his glove at the tampa player. it didn't even prevent the guy from getting a good shot away and it gave them a penalty shot after biron made the save. luckily biron saved the penalty shot, but what a brain fart.

oh and the game also included what i think might have been the worst 5-minute boarding call i have ever seen. nhl referees are clown shoes.

I agree... the Avery suspension is the most sad thing I've ever seen. He's said much worse and not gotten any kind of discipline. Also, how come athletes who say the "F word" accidentally during an interview hardly ever even have to apologize?

Ok... I have heard all the Crosbaby cries and how terrible of a faker he is, and how the majority of his points come on PP assists.

 

I always ran with it as a joke, but I am watching the Islanders/(P)ittsburgh (P)enguins game...

 

It is 8-1 after 2 periods. Pens have 4 PPGs. On the final PP of the period for KC, Crosby obviously fell down and got up and instantly started crying to the refs he was tripped (at this point the score was 7-1) to try and get a 2 man advantage.

 

Does this team have any class? Crosby has cried to refs at least 4 times tonight that I've seen and only ONE time did he have a logical argument.

 

MICHELLE keeps playing his first line in an 8-1 blowout (and by playing I mean it looks like it's a 1-0 game). I really hope the Islanders respond and make a run on Crosbaby, what a classless *******.

 

Is the NHL really protecting this team and Crosbaby? This is ridiculous and despicable.
