outscored by 21 in the first quarter. Best shot in the quarter was Gooden on a breakaway dunk. Seriously, fold this team

Yes, they're on their way to a 5-7 record with a rookie coach and rookie point guard vs the 3rd hardest schedule in the NBA.

Fold them!

this team has NO offensive game plan at all. NONE. when they win, it's because their crappy mid-range jump shots happen to fall. it's embarrassing.

i'm tired of this team being "young" and "inexperienced". every time it seems the team is going somewhere, it takes 2 steps back.

The problem with this argument is that the rookie point guard is the smartest player on the entire team by a incredibly large amount. Our supposed veterans play appallingly stupid basketball.

As for VDN, I don't see why he should get any sort of slack for being a rookie coach. Will he get better? Possibly. But swhy should fans expect their HEAD coach to receive on the job training. Plus a lot of the lapses, especially defensively, are effort related. No coach, no matter how experienced, at ANY level of basketball should be given slack for that. This is a team that has played excellent defense iwith largely the same personnel.

someone on the radio (dont' remember who) made a good point about the NBA: it's not a developmental league, especially for big men. If you're not really good coming into the league, you aren't going to become really good. None of Thomas, Gray or Noah were "really good" coming into the league.

Vinny might not make it through the year. Should have kept Skiles.

Man this team has gone downhill since they beat the Heat in the playoffs two years ago. Many of the same players are around too. But the NBA and especially the east got better.

Noah is not an NBA player. But you could say the same about the rest of the team.

The funny thing is that nearly every player on our team has come from one of the very best college programs in the country or had extensive international experience in Noc's case.

Thomas played on a Final Four team, Gordon won an NCAA championship, Noah won two, Hinrich and Gooden played for one, Deng played for Duke, Rose played for one as well, Gray played Pitt. The pedigree just isn't there. You'd think with so many guys coming from big time programs theyh'd understand roles and basic principles better. But in a lot of ways this team has the collective basketball IQ of the immediate post-Jordan teams. Even Jay Williams was a Dukie!

A lot of that has to fall on Pax.

These threads are almost as bad as the Cubs game threads.

You would think this team was expected to win 50 games.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Larry Hughes started for the injured Luol Deng Wednesday night, but Deng's sore left hamstring can't make the Bulls' glut of guards disappear.

That's why the disenchantment Hughes expressed late Tuesday in Los Angeles, after averaging 18 minutes this season, could resurface.

"I don't want to play like this," Hughes said. "I'm not comfortable with 15-20 minutes. Something has to change."

It did, albeit temporarily. But Derrick Rose is the No. 1 overall pick, Ben Gordon is the team's leading scorer and Kirk Hinrich, currently injured, is the best perimeter defender.

Shut the hell up you waste of life.

this particular game is terrible though. and a lot of us don't see every game, so when they're this awful on the one game a week we see them, it's frustrating

Nope not at all, but you'd expect a little better effort than this. The Blazers are good but we should be able to stay on the floor with them.

the thing that kills me is that the core of the team that made the 2nd round of the playoffs a few seasons ago remains intact, yet the team is getting worse.

Obviously they're playing like crap.

I don't understand how that justifies a bunch of reactionary nonsense, though.

It's a lot of things:

1. Skiles lost the team, and no one has gotten them to respond like he did.

2. Team started playing for themselves more then as a team

3. The east has gotten much better

4. They got worse defensively (one example, Wallace to Gooden....as bad as Wallace was, Gooden is an embarassingly bad interior defender)

So what you're saying is we can bench him, piss him off more, and make it more likely he will leave.

Where do I sign?

The first 3 are all coaching. Clearly NBA guys are coachable (as illustrated by many other teams), but the Bulls have hired a string of sub-par guys post-Jackson.

It's also pretty clear that teams don't win in the NBA without a superstar, and the Bulls haven't had one in a decade

The game plan is have Rose dribble penetrate and dish to the open man or attack the basket. This is the best spacing the Bulls have had on offense in years and they are attempting more free throws and attacking the basket more than they have (yes, a lot of that is due to Rose) in a long time. Of course, Larry and Ben doing whatever they want at times doesn't help things.

The real problem with this team is its front court on offense and defense. No amount of effort is going to turn Drew Gooden into a good defender. Noah is clueless. Tyrus gives the effort but plays totally out of control.

you also have 4 big men who can't shoot at all.

if the game plan is drive and dish but the opponent locks down Rose, the team is screwed.

But now that most players who enter the NBA only enter after one year of college, they haven't developed. The good players ruled in high school and weren't forced to develop. Then they have one year of college basketball. It takes time. But none of the Bulls' big men will ever be anything sadly.

This is a huge issue, and the future of the NBA could be grim if it turns into a developmental league

They can't shoot and don't have anything resembling a post move outside of Gray. And if Gray is your best front court player, you have BIG problems.

And there is an NBA developmental league, but for those guys most of them went to college for four years and are pretty much done developing. If they had potential, a GM would have seen it.

Portland was one of two teams the Bulls could have beaten on this roadtrip. Now all that's left is Golden State.

Be happy with a possible 8th seed and first round knockout this year and a great rookie season from Rose, a little more development next year and then hope for Amare or Bosh.

How poorly Drew Gooden plays interior defense at C for us this year has little to do with our longterm prospects.

Tyrus needs to figure something out this year, though.
