Now that weve had a bit to let this sink in, lets keep this civil so not to get it locked up like the game thread.

basically, a poor, poor performance all around. However, with Zambrano, Harden, and Lilly coming up, we still have the advantage. Of course, the offense will have to come out to play too. A lineup tweak may be in order. Kosuke needs to bat 8th. Until DeRosa is able to play RF again, he'll have to be in there somewhere.

i really just can't figure out what derosa was doing so far down in the lineup

i mean, it kind of worked out, but fukudome in the no. 2 is a real headscratcher.

You cn only blame the pitching so much. yeah, they sucked, but the offense was just as bad. The Cubs do this a lot, when they have a series of bad games before finding their zone. The problem is, they dont have the time, and they need to find that zone tommorow.

Well, all i can say is not a well played game at all. We still got a pretty good chance, but i'm one of those who prefers to keep the expectations low. I still think this team loses game 2, wins game 3 but loses game 4. I hope they don't do that and win the series but thats the only way i save myself from jumping off a cliff.

Dempster had no command of his fastball and Manny Ramirez hit one of the filthiest benders I've ever seen. Oh and the offense was sleeping. Someone get them some coffee.

Someone convince me that we will win tomorrow and this won't end like last year.

I'm not sure how many people you'll find that could convince you of that at this exact point in time. Give it a few hours, at least.

Tonight was the Ryan Dempster that all of us expected back in April, and it cost them. If he isn't walking 7 guys tonight, we don't expose the worst part of our pen and it keeps our offense from pressing, which we are making a bad habit of.

I was discouraged by Soriano's approach, but I can't really say that I expected anything different. As we saw against Arizona last year, he is completely ineffective against good pitchers who can control their breaking pitches.

Ok guys,

I just want to tell you to not be afraid. I have this all worked out for us!! I will not allow us to lose tomorrow night. I have an incredible record at Cubs games recently. I have won 9 of my last 10 games. Once we get that straightened away we go to LA where nobody gives a shot about anything and we forget about all of this pressure and watch our Stud Rich Harden beat them in game 3 and then turn to Big Game Teddy for game 4. Yes, you heard it here first--we will win this thing in 4!!!! Mark my words. Go ahead question me and doubt me, it will only make my beliefs stronger. Trust me, we are going to win this series and we are going to the World Series (beyond that I cannot promise anything). I have worked way to hard for 162 games this summer to let 1 game get my dobber down.

Talk to you tomorrow from Wrigley.

PS--yes, I do know that 23 of 26 teams that have won game 1 in the NLDS have gone on to take the series. But come on, I think we are used to having the odds against us!!

Zambrano and Harden.

Zambrano has over an 18 era in his starts since no-hitter.

Time to wonder whether letting him throw all those pitches in his first start back was worth it?

I seriously want to cry. I'm not even like..over stating it, because I'm on the internet. I'm completely serious. I want to just curl up in a ball. I can't do this crap every year. I can't.

I really don't care.

Soriano is not a playoff hitter because he can't hit very good pitching. Never has, never will.

I say there's absolutely no way Fuku plays tomorrow. From shots of the bench, it looks like Lou is fed up with him. If Dero can't play RF, then I'm guessing Edmonds in CF and Reed in RF.

You guys shoulda listened to me. Stop expecting so much.

The fact of the matter is, 7 teams out of 8 are going to lose in the playoffs each year. Good teams are going to lose to worse teams a lot.

There's no need to become so emotionally invested in a bad playoff system.
