The people who are acting like the result of this game has no impact on the Cubs are very foolish.

The fact is there's no way to know what matchup really will be better for us and it's a best of 5 crapshoot that we'll be favored in no matter who we play.

The Mets just aren't going to roll over for us if we draw them. Would I rather face them? Probably, but it really doesn't matter all that much.

I think it matters a lot. I think the Dodgers are leaps and bounds better than the Mets in pretty much every area. Also Furcal is back. They have a top offense and the best pitching in the league. The Mets have a good lineup and that's it.

In a five game series (even in a seven game series), truth be told, having some bounces go our way is going to matter a whole lot more than who we're facing. It's lame but that's really what it comes down to. It's too short term to be able to say, "oh we're this much better than these guys but only that much better than those guys, we would be much more likely to beat these guys."

Fact is will be the better team no matter who we are facing. Be happy with that. That's all you can really ask for.

Runs would be nice against this pitful bullpen.

Brewers are 4th in the NL for bullpen ERA with a 3.86. I agree that number is probably misleading but their WPA etc are all above average as well. I think they have at least an average bullpen or just a tiny bit above average.

I'm very confused as to why Soriano is still in the game. Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to stick the pitcher in Soriano's slot and bring in Fukudome for defense given Soriano is still obviously hurt.

Oh and be glad that Chad Gaudin hasn't had some fortunate outings and then crapped the bed after making the playoff roster.

If he sucks, it's good that it's being exposed.

Let's see, we could face the red hot Dodgers who have the best pitching in the league, a top offense since getting Manny, and have plenty of time to set their rotation and rest

or

We could play the Mets, their disastrous bullpen (which will probably be even more destroyed with a likely DH on Sunday and potential Monday game), a questionable rotation, and no Santana in game 1

Yeah, no difference.

The best pitching of the league? Right. The most overrated pitching in the league, sure.

The Dodgers have spent the last month playing nobody. Two weeks ago, people were begging for the Dodgers to pass the D-backs to play them, and now we're afraid of them? Please. The Dodgers are six games over .500. They are the worst team in the playoffs.

Saying that they have the best pitching in the league wasn't an opinion, it was a fact.

So having the best ERA and best WHIP in the league doesn't mean they have the best pitching? Interesting.

Will all 5 games be played at Dodger Stadium?

i think he's not back because of his injury

but if his injury was alcohol-related, like 99.9% of everyone in chicago believes, then i don't have any sympathy for the drunk idiot

Wow I know we've already clinched but this game has been an embarassment.

Hoffpauir turns a routine out into a double

Hoffpauir makes a terrible baserunning mistake

Edmonds (or Theriot) misses a sign

Catcher's interference on a RP batting

Balk to advance said fat reliever

Soriano with multiple screwups

Ugly. I don't care if we've already clinched, it's not good to be going into the playoffs playing dumb baseball

It's a shame, because he was so good before his incident.

Again, I'd probably rather face the Mets, but it's foolish to think it makes a huge difference. We can easily lose to them and we could just as easily beat a superior team.

Jeez, one bad game and you'd think the rest of the season is negated.

No, it's just not what you want to see going into the playoffs in a few days.
