Well it looks the Brewers will win the WC, but hopefully Philly can at least stay alive until Sunday so Milwaukee is forced to use Sabathia and won't have him for game one of the DS.

huh? Why are we rooting against milwaukee in the DS anyway?

I know it's a long shot, but a healthy trio of Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo is still very scary

True, but how many innings can you really expect from Sheets and Gallardo?

Healthy being the key word there.

and again, cc as pitched like 4 straight starts on short rest (or will have, or something) and his velocity is down.. he's no sure thing

For what it is worth if the Brewers win tomorrow and the Mets lose then Sabathia will not pitch on Sunday and will be fully rested for the playoffs. Gallardo seemed just fine in his last start. Sheets is obviously the wild card of the bunch. Even if he proves healthy his innings limit should have been around 190 and Yost screwed the Brewers by constantly keeping him in that extra inning, I don't think he is going to be a major player in the playoffs but you never know.

but you never know.

It's the "you never know" factor that worries me somewhat. It's almost invariable that a team you don't snuff out when you have the chance will come back and trouble you somehow. See also: 2004 Astros.

Yeah I can agree with that. If all the pitchers pitch to their potential I don't think any team can compare to the Brewers rotation. Three pitchers who could easily post seasons of sub 3.00 ERA. I doubt they pitch like that though since they all have their issues.

you can say the same for Harden, Z, and Dempster.

Harden and Z, yes. Demp... maybe. I'm still not convinced that this is anything more than a career year for him and he won't regress next year.

If his career year extends well into October, he'll be OK in my book. Anyway, I disagree. I think hes doing now what he was supposed to do back before he had his Tommy John.

It's not next year yet. Next year you don't have to worry about CC or Sheets...

Nor do we have to worry about Demp regressing next year as he pitches this season.

Who says he would have to wait until next year to do any regressing if there's any regressing to do?
