Remember the Dodgers got Furcal back this week who was putting up MVP numbers before he went down. Not to mention Manny. Their pitching rotation isn't that great with Penny out but they have a solid rotation. Plus they are coming into the playoffs hot. The Dodgers really scare me and it wouldn't surprise me if they came in and beat us. Luckily this time around we have Home Field Advantage which really could have helped last year.

Remember that the Dodgers spent the entire month playing these teams

San Diego - 9 Games

Arizona - 3 Games

Colorado - 3 Games

Pittsburgh - 3 Games

San Fran - 3 Games (3 left)

Scary.

Lol, seriously.

I'm not going to go all "the sky is falling" but before tonight, I would have said let the "playoff team" play two games this series and then rest them on the season finale. But with the way this team has played the last week, I say don't rest your playoff starters, they need to get this "casual crap" out of their system now, of the Cubs will be out of the playoffs very quickly.

The Playoffs are too close for the Cubs to continue to play as casual as they have. I hope Lou nails into them after the game.

This makes no sense.

Clinch...but play like you haven't.

Guh?

I assuming the Cubs are thinkg they can simply "flip the switch" and be ready for the playoffs. I didn't mind the "Spring Training type" atmosphere the last several games, but against the Brewers and so close to the playoffs, I believe the intensity level should be at playoff level. I don't like this "we play casual because we already clinch early" attitude.

On the bright side, I was thinking about going to LA if we drew them. I've never been to Cali and would like to catch it out. :)

Tonight is not indicative of "the last several games."

I guess that means that's what happens every time.

And the moment they faced a legit team they got swept right the hell out.

Are we playing the 2007 Rockies next week? The NL West completely sucks this year.

From a Dodgers fan (one of the smartest posters I know, has an awesome blog) at another board I go to...

Why the soapdrop do we have to play the Cubs...

Every Dodger fan I know has been rooting for the Mets to make the playoffs big time.

Why isn't that plausible to you? They have nothing to play for, other than not wanting to see the Brewers celebrate a WC berth, so the intensity is obviously lacking some. When the get back to Chicago, in a playoff game, in front of 42k people, they'll be an entirely different team.

None of the potential playoff teams wants to play any of the other potential teams. The seeding looks like a middle school dance: lots of people standing on opposite sides of the room, too scared to go anywhere near the others.

well, by losing tonight they avoid a trip to Houston, I can't say I blame them for that. and yes, they definitely can switch the intensity back on next week. They definitely should be resting this weekend.

Well it looks the Brewers will win the WC, but hopefully Philly can at least stay alive until Sunday so Milwaukee is forced to use Sabathia and won't have him for game one of the DS.

huh? Why are we rooting against milwaukee in the DS anyway?

I wouldn't mind Hamels vs. CC for Game 1... It won't affect our division series. I would rather CC beat Hamels than CC not get to pitch until Game 3 so if the Brewers do win he'll be setup perfect to face the Cubs in the NLCS for Game 1.

he's worried about CC, Gallardo, Sheets

fwiw, CC has been unbelievably overworked lately, his velocity is down, gallardo had a nice start against a terrible team, so hard to know what to gather from that, and sheets's arm is about to fall off

I know it's a long shot, but a healthy trio of Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo is still very scary
