Does it have anything to do with harboring resentment from 1969, or are there other factors, too?

Probably split between that and Shea not being the easiest venue for him to get around in. When the Nats played at RFK Stadium, Ron used to skip that road trip for the same reason.

This game is a good argument against the notion of "clutch" in baseball. Here, you have a game that means nothing to the Cubs and everything to the Mets, and look what happens. If clutch meant anything, then you wouldn't see this performance by the Mets. The better team the day of the game will always win.

Heh, not that I believe in clutch at all, but if anything, IMO, this game would just be evidence supporting the existence of anti-clutch with the Mets just "choking" all over themselves in a game that means nothing to the "free and easy" Cubs.

But I don't really buy into any of that stuff.

ELCABALLO rooting for the Cubs really bugs me for some reason

better than rooting for the Brewers I guess

by rooting for the cubs he's rooting for the brewers.

For a Brewer fan, it doesnt make any less sense than El Caballo anymore.

That was probably the last of Maquis, but he probably earned himeself a playoff roster spot right there.

As a pinch hitter, if nothing else.

Is it wrong of me to root for a 3-way tie between the Brewers, Mets and Philles, along with a tie between the Dodgers and D-backs?

Hell, while we're at it, Twins and White Sox too.

He certainly deserves it. I wouldn't pitch him at home in the playoffs under any circumstances.. But his road splits are very very good.... Only Rich Harden has a lower ERA on the road than Marquis' 3.05 following this performance. Dempster is next at 3.22, Z has a 3.77 on the road, and Lilly is in the 3.80s.

That was probably not the best move by Beltran. Down by six with one already out in the seventh inning, he should probably be a little more careful out there. Sure, great catch, but if you injure yourself when your team needs you the most over the next six or seven games in a game your are already down by six, eh.
