AMERICAN LEAGUE

Playoff for AL East

Tampa Bay at Boston

Playoff for AL Central

Minnesota at Chicago White Sox

Playoff for AL Wild Card

Minnesota at Boston

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Playoff for NL East

New York Mets at Philadelphia

Playoff for NL Central

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee

Playoff for NL West

Arizona at Los Angeles Dodgers

Playoff for NL Wild Card

Milwaukee at Philadelphia

Milwaukee at Houston

Milwaukee at St. Louis

Houston at Philadelphia

St. Louis at Philadelphia

Houston at St. Louis

Weird that they would have Chicago flip for the NL Central but not for the Wild Card. The only way the Cubs and Brewers play for the Central is if they end the season tied and both teams fall below the WC threshold, which would mean either Philly or another NL Central team (Houston) would pass us.

No that would mean Houston would win the division.

I know thats why I'm saying its weird that we would flip for the division, when realistically the only way there would be a 1 game tie breaker between Milwaukee and Chicago is if they both tied and Philadelphia passes both of us.

As we know the chances of doing this is next to impossible. It's more likely (albeit not very) that Chicago finishes 2nd in the Central and tied with a team like Houston or Philly for the WC.

If the Cubs go 6-10 in their last 16 games, the Phillies would have to go 15-0 and the Brewers would have to go 11-4 to make a 1 game playoff occur.

not to mention the Mets would have to hold off the Phillies

What about the Red Sox vs. White Sox for the wildcard?

Yeah that's bizarre too. Does the MLB have any clue what they are doing? What happens if it for some reason is Boston vs. White Sox for the WC, what are they going to do?

BTW, the fact that the White Sox get HFA over Minny in a potential one game playoff is HUGE

They can flip another coin.

Thats huge for the White Sox and Red Sox who are dominant at home, and the Rays and Twins are bot so so on the road.

Luckily, it will probably be meaningless for the Cubs.

Still, I think a Royal Rumple type scenerio would work out better than a coin flip.

Nah that's too hard. I was thinking a player on each team is selected and they engage in a game of parcheesi.

Let's say the Cubs and Brewers each finsh 92-70 and the Phillies finish 91-71, wouldn't they need to have a playoff to decide who is the division champ and who is the WC?

They don't have a playoff game unless a spot is on the line. I think they go to the next tiebreaker to see who gets the division vs the WC.

They only flipped the Cubs/Brewers coin to say there's something left in the race. I think everyone assumes the Cubs will win... except Cubs fans of course :)

What if Milwaukee wins outright, and we tie with Houston or Philly for the wildcard? Those are both nearly statistically as possible as some of the other scenarios they flipped for.
