It was probably taken out of context.

That's what I thought at first too, but now the full quote is on mlb.com-

"They are in the rearview mirror," Torres said of the Phillies, who entered Tuesday three games back of the Brewers. "If they were ahead, that's a different story. But we've still got the lead, so we cannot act like we are behind them. They need to worry, not us. And the Chicago Cubs, they need to worry, because we're going to get them. That's all I can say."

Maybe the loudmouth bastich intends to bean more of our players with helmet-shattering fastballs.

In looking at the careers of numerous Hall of Fame hitters, there are very few guys out there where you can point to a specific moment in his career and say, "That's where his decline began." It's hard to pinpoint where things started to go downhill for them.

With Sammy Sosa, that is not the case thanks to Salomon Torres.

LMAO, this is twisted logic. So, the Brewers don't have to worry about the Phillies being 3 games back, when they play them four games this weekend on the road, but the Cubs need to worry about the Brewers being 4.5 games back (5 in the loss column)? Hahaha! That knuckle head doesn't realize that the Cubs magic number coud very well fall 4 straight games no matter which team wins.

Also, I noticed that someone on BF.net wrote that the Cubs are their silver linning. Wut? It's the other way around friends because the Cubs are leading. I'm glad they have Ned Yost on their side; he'd prefer that they pitch Sabathia tonight so that he's in line to pitch against the Cubs instead of pushing him back a game to go against the Phillies in a more important series for their immediate playoff hopes. Hey Brewers, the Cubs series could be virtually meaningless if you lose 3 of 4 or get swept in Philadelphia!

...and in other news Jimmy cracked corn.

what ticks me off about that is he didn't care about it!!

So he is to cracking corn what Corey Patterson is to baseball?

The funny thing is, he says that the Brewers don't need to worry about the Phils because the Phils are behind them and that they would only have to worry about them if the Phils were ahead of them... then he goes on to say that the Cubs, who are ahead of them (actually by more, now), should worry about them.

Not a bright guy here.

IMHO, the real key is going to be going .500 against the Brewers in our 6 games against them.

If we do that and don't completely suck against the Astros/Cards/Mets we should be fine.

.500 against the Brewers and .500 against the Astros/Cards/Mets clinches, even if the Brewers win their other 9 games against the Phillies/Reds/Pirates.

Hey Salomon? How's that prediction coming along??

Cubs in their last 11 (6 of those road games) = 3-8

Brewers in their last 11 (10 of those home games [7 vs SD & CIN]) = 3-8

Except he said it like 3 days ago after he got done blowing a save, which makes it all the more mindblowing.

Ok, so 4 games ago for each...

Cubs in last 4 games [all road games] = 2-2

Brewers in last 4 games [3 home (CIN) & 1 road] = 1-3

:-$ , Salomon!

Right now I'm hearing much more talk from Brewerland about the WC than about the division.

Lots of "oh crap we might not even make the playoffs at all!" talk.

If I was Torres, I'd watch my back.

Brewers need to turn it around and like NOW, so FatPrince needs a pitcher to bowl over again; to light that spark in the dugout.

Yeah, at this point that's very possible.

Ummmm, yeah. Who's Salomon Torres? 8-)

The guy in whose locker Zambrano wrote "CATCH THIS" in celebratory urine.

Hilarious!

Celebratory Urine would be a GREAT band name.
