good choice here...not a difference maker, but certainly someone who can maybe give you an inning in a pinch or maybe go 2 or 3 in any game we may get our behinds kicked. he has got some potential down the road, but is just a spare part over the rest of the season.

Anyone else not real happy with the way 40 man spots are being frittered away?

This is mainly an extension of my McGehee hate, but I don't think getting Wells on the 40 man should've been a priority, and I really don't think he provides much of anything to our current pen.

At the expense of what else though? There's no real downside.

Why do you hate McGehee?

Correct. There are several spots being occupied by essentially zero-value guys who can be jettisoned with no heartburn whatsoever.

I haven't looked it over too hard, but I'm talking for Rule 5 purposes come December. I'd rather keep Jake Fox or even Fuld over McGehee. Atkins and Veal are the only ones of the top of my head that should be rostered over Wells, but I've been carrying my torch for Matt Craig and Josh Kroeger for too long to let somebody worthless like McGehee take their spot.

Adding guys to the 40 man right now doesn't mean there won't be spots available for the rule 5.

Why Randy Wells over Mitch Atkins (who would be added to the 40 man this offseason)? They'd serve the same purpose.

Adding Casey McGehee was way worse.

It does quite likely mean that McGehee and Wells will be on the 40 man come December. I'd imagine Koyie gets bumped again, but I'd be surprised if either of the other 2 were.

Atkins, Veal and Spears will be added this offseason (and Berg with a good AFL). I'm guessing K. Hill and McGehee or Fox get de-rostered in the offseason.

I have a bad feeling Pie gets traded this offseason. I hope he gets a chance to play this month and does well.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Pie some starts in CF down the stretch with the idea of the possibility of him in CF, Edmonds in RF.

Why not give Fuku starts after the clinch? That seems to make much more sense than running old man Edmonds out there outside of a few stretch starts.
