So we are on a little losing streak, and honestly I truly am not that worried. The Dodgers are actually on a little bit of a run though which excites me. I honestly don't want to play the D-Backs. Outside of the Brewers (which we obviously can't play in the NLDS) the last team I want to play is the D-Backs. So my question is even though I'd love homefield. Would you rather lose the division and play the Phillies/Mets in the first round than the D-Backs? If the Dodgers end up winning that divisioin than that'd be great, because that would be my first choice. I don't even really think we will lose the central, but their is that chance. I mean I'd love homefield for our fans, but at the same time I don't think is that big of a deal. I don't think the Brewers are good enough to take it from us down the stretch though so this is probably a mute point. But is their anyone out there that would give up the division to not have to play Arizona and Webb and Haren? I think being hot going into the post season is overrated. Look at St.Louis and Detriot a couple years ago, they were both about as cold as you can be, and they made the world series. I guess my question is, would you give up the division and home field in the NLCS for an easier first round match up like someone in the EAST? My fantasy would be somehow someway the Phillies catching Milwaukee in the Wildcard. A part of me just really fears Arizona more than anyone else in the NL.

and for the record, I am pretty drunk when I posted this, so if it sounds stupid don't bash me. I am just a 20 year old Chicago Cubs fan at 4:20 trying to write a message.

I don't want anything other than a division title. I don't care who we face, honestly. Zambrano (if healthy), Harden (if healthy), and Dempster can beat them.

I'll take the wild card over no playoffs, but I'd much rather win the division and have home field advantage regardless of the opposition. There isn't a team in the league that the Cubs can't beat at home.

As a Brewer fan I think the Brewers winning the divison would be awesome, however...

Being a Brewer fan, I just want to get in. I don't care if we back into the playoffs to do it. I jsut want to get in damnit!

So is it almost your 1.5 year anniversary of being a Brewers fan?

Look back 1.5 years ago at the standings, maybe you will...

I don't get the joke, but we could get back on topic:

I would like to face the Dodgers because I think they're the weakest team in the NL among the contenders.

I'm not scared of either team from the East. I'm not saying the Cubs will dominate them, I just don't think that either of them are especially difficult to beat. If I had to pick, I would pick the Mets especially when you compare the bullpens.

I don't want to face the DBacks. They're a good "October" team.

I think the Brewers could be really good in October (now obviously discussing the NLCS) because of their pitching, but I honestly think that their position players (read Fielder) will not be able to handle pressure situations. These are one of those teams that if they're down 2-0 they may just pack it in.

We must win the division.

it's the only way that Eamus Catuli sign over the fence in Right Field will read AC000000.

As long as the last four numbers are 0's, that's all I really care about.

The 4 game set with the Brewers @ Philly this weekend is shaping up to be huge. I'm kind of torn. I'd LOVE to see the Brewers miss the playoffs altogether, but at the same time that would make us face Philly in the first round instead of (hopefully) LA. With the way Hamels completely dominates the CUbs, I want no part of them in a short series. I think we could handle them in a long series though.

Be careful what you wish for.

Twenty years ago I was going to school in NYC. The Bulls were playing the Cavs in a decisive game with the winner going to face the Knicks. The Knicks had the HFA over the Bulls. I was with 50 Knick fans in the student lounge when Jordan hit the shot on Ehlo. They cheered louder than I did. Conference Finals baby. Not quite. The Bulls stole game one at MSG and took the series in six.

I know we can sit here and think it's great to avoid Arizona's big three (even though they're .500), the Mets don't have Wagner (but Fernando Tatis will kill us), the Dodgers don't look too threatening (unless they win) and the Phillies (changes by the day). But we need to play better and realize to win anything you have to earn it. A so-called "bad" first round match up shouldn't make a difference.

Any team can beat any team in the playoffs.

Agreed. For that matter, any team could beat any team in a best-of-five. EVERY team loses series to bad teams throughout the year. The playoffs are just very unpredictable.

However, there are still some teams that I would rather face over others.
