I hope this means D-Lee is going to get dropped from the 3 spot.

Sori

DeRo

A-Ram

Lee

Soto

Edmonds

Fukudome

Theriot

I realize having Lee hitting 4th is not ideal, but it's better then having him hit 3rd. I want A-Ram to have a chance to get

max at bats.

I believe that is what he's hinting at. The ONLY three guys he hasn't moved either up or down the lineup is Soriano/Lee and ARam. Everybody else has hit from #2 to #5-8. So it doesn't make sense to hint at a lineup change, if we've already seen a change this yr. So again, I agree with you I think you might see Lee dropped. I wouldn't mind Soto/ARam/Edmonds/Lee/DeRosa as the Cubs 3-7. With Fukudome hitting 2nd, and Theriot hitting 8th.

I'd rather have Lee hit 3rd than 4th. Lee's walk rates have been going up lately. He's useless to hit 4th. Do you want someone with a barely over .400 SLG since April (.410) hitting cleanup?

For the record, I'd hit Lee 2nd.

Not sure who I'd hit third. Maybe Soto or the CF Platooner of the day (if Edmonds stops sucking).

Soriano

Lee

Edmonds/Johnson

Ramirez

Soto

DeRosa

Theriot

Fukudome/Hoffpauir

why is him hitting 4th any better than him hitting 3rd?

Like I said, it's not ideal hitting Lee 4th, but I want A-Ram coming up in the 1st inning with a chance to do damage.

D-lee has been a rally killer.

assuming Soriano is stuck at leadoff:

Soriano

DeRosa

Ramirez

Edmonds

Soto

Lee

Fukudome

Theriot

Aside from that 1 game when he had 2 doubles and a triple, Edmonds really hasnt been much better than Fukudome lately. hes something like 4 for his last 30.

Oh good. Let's tinker with the best offense in the National League with a month to go.

I agree with Raisin. This is stupid. Why take Theriot away from the top of the lineup? There's not a single player on this team that is a better fit hitting 1 or 2. Why mess with anything? Because they had a bad weekend?

My only problem with Theriot near the top is his propensity for bad base-running

I also have an issue with DeRosa and Soto being buried in the bottom of the order

My suggestion of Edmonds at #4 was just to "break up the righties"

Theriot's baserunning hasn't been good, but what difference does it makes if he makes out on the basepaths hitting 2nd or 8th?

And your guys that have been buried at the bottom of the order have put up great years and had tons of guys on base when they come to bat. Ramirez, Edmonds, Fukudome and Derosa have gotten on base better than Soriano and Lee most of the year. Would you rather have Theriot trying to knock in the guys who get on base the most?

Way too much attention is paid to the lineup order, when it doesn't matter as long as the best players are in it.

it matters insofar as I want DeRosa and Soto to have more AB's over the course of the year than Lee and Theriot

Good luck with that. Soto is a catcher. He can't play 162 anyway. And it's too late to worry about who will have more ABs this season.

I have no problem with Theriot number 2, but I'm speculating if there are lineup changes, where would Lee fit. I think Lee would fit well as a 2 hitter at this point, with a crapload of singles, a solid number of walks, and a decent number of doubles and the occasional HR. Plus unless he's in a slump and K'ing a lot, he usually has some solid ABs.

Yeah, Theriot's CS and base running is poor. Give him the red light and let him keep getting on base at the top of the lineup.

The only thing I really don't like is having Soto bat 8th. But Theriot is a fantastic #2 hitter if you can curtail that base running.

I love Theriot, but seriously, the kid needs to be chained top the base until the ball hits the bat.
