This stretch really reminds me of the stretch in September 04.

In that month we had a 7 game winning streak, where in the first 4 games or so we were swinging the bats really well and looking good. Then our bats went to crap (as they tended to do in 04) and because of good pitching, we scratched across a few close wins. But the bats continued to get worse, and after winning the first in NY, we dropped the last 2, then went home to drop 3 of 4 to Cinci and then lost the first 2 to Atlanta.

Anyways, lemme stress that I am NOT IMPLYING THE CUBS ARE ABOUT TO COLLAPSE. I was just thinking of a similar situation where we were winning games but not looking good doing it, and then the bottom fell out for a bit. Another time was in 2005 when we won 4 in a row vs. the White Sox and Brewers, but the scores of those games were 6-2, 2-0, 2-0, 3-2. We then lost 7 in a row.

Well, the biggest difference is that we now have a 10 game playoff lead with 24 to play at worst. I know you aren't concerned about a collapse, as you shouldn't be. The magic # is now 15 for a playoff spot.

I was going to go to the bathroom after the last half inning, but I figured to wait 2 minutes until after the Cubs offense gets itself out.

Fifteen wins? How many total games are there? That still means winning more than half of what is left, right?

If we lose this we'll have to go 15-9

Um, that isn't the way the magic numbers work.

Wins or wild card runner up losses.

Edmonds is 6 for his last 44, and that includes his feasting of the Pirates pitching when he went 3-5.

I think the magic is ovah.

So do you go back to being a holdout?

Well my level of patience has always been thin with him so yeah.

To put it in perspective, if the Cubs go 10-12 the rest of the way, the wild card runner up would need to go 21-3. We're winning the division, though.
