And yes, I'd yank him. He's either half assing it or hot dogging it would be nice if he'd quit doing it. I'd hate for it to happen in an important game.

He misplayed a ball. If it was Kosuke or Theriot or someone everyone would be saying he misplayed it, but since it's Soriano he was hotdogging it.

I didnt think he was hotdogging it, but he did not misplay it either. Misplaying implies he went after the ball hard but took a bad route, etc. Soriano looked totally lackadaisical on the play and was looking away when the ball hit his glove. Thats not showboating, but it is 100% lazy.

Cotts blows. Where's Scott Eyre when you need him?

probably doing the same thing that cotts is doing - blowing.

Actually he's pitching well in Philly. Which is what he did here... prior to not being allowed to sniff the bullpen mound for a month.

How the hell do you miss a simple pop up? Lou should have pulled him. A play like that shows that Soriano's head is too far up his butt for him to care about what's going on on the field.

Yank him, embarrass him, and see if it gets his attention.

He didnt dog it on the play, he misplayed a ball.

Did he give it max effort? Exactly. There is NO excuse for that to happen multiple times in a season. NONE. He should have been pulled if Lou had any balls.

He missed a catch. That's not dogging it.

And Soriano shouldn't be pulled because that would be a stupid thing to do.

When a major leaguer drops severals routine balls over the course of a season, it's pretty clear that he's half-assing it. It's really not hard to catch fly balls. When you drop one you kind of overlook it, but when it happens all the time something has to be done. That simply cannot happen in the playoffs.

Isn't this only the second or third time? Since when is that several? It's an error, get over it.

Kosuke and Theriot dont make a habit of dumb crap like that.

Theriot makes a habit of doing lots of dumb stuff. Not as much lately but he is definitely not innocent when it comes to that.

Soriano misplaying a ball = dumb crap

So does Theriot having an awful arm and awful range that costs us hits = dumb crap? Just trying to keep up here.

I think it's at least his 4th.. there were the two in one game vs. St. Louis, and then the one he dropped when Marmol was closing out the game... then this one...

He's been sorta good in Philly.

If he maintains it good for him, but his WHIP over the past couple seasons definitely doesn't justify the infatuation around here for him.

Can we at least agree that Neil Diamond, as well as Will Ferrell playing Neil Diamond, would have made that catch?

orrrrr he's just kinda bad at it....

Don't you realize how easy it is to catch popups? That's like saying someone is bad at blinking. There's no skill involved, you just do it.

I've seen a lot of people drop fly balls in my life time.

So, how will the Cubs bad karma hurt them if they win this game that they don't deserve to win?

in 5 innings. i prefer to look at the 130 bad innings that he had in a cub uniform.

Why does what he did two years ago matter at all? The fact it, Scott Eyre was great this year until he had two back to back rough outtings, then wasn't allowed to pitch after returning from the DL. He's getting to pitch consistently again in Philly, and not surprisingly he's pitching incredibly well again.

The guy feels a need to hop before every catch as a timing mechanism. He's obviously not ridiculously comfortable out there.

Just because you claim that it's easy doesn't mean it's easy for him... and he still succeeds at it 98% of the time.

Well it's only his fourth error so he couldn't have dropped that many fly balls.

Either way, it's still just an error.

Theriots dumb crap is usually on the base paths. Anyway, if Soriano cn drive a few in, all will be forgiven and forgotten.
