It really pisses me off that Kosuke is exempt from boo's. I'm not a big fan of booing, but it's really annoying that he gets a free pass because he's trendy.

His experience as a good hitter before coming over here, combined with living on the other half of the world from where he's been his whole life, are not excuses for sucking, and his batting has been ridiculous bad, but I also think the aforementioned excuses are decent reasons to give the guy a little more leeway before dropping the Jacque treatment on him. Also, I don't think being trendy is so much the reason he's getting a free pass as the Cubs having the best record in baseball is.

I don't know. I went to the Marlins series this weekend and everytime he came up to bat he got loud "FUKUDOME" chants from most of the Cubs fans in the place. And of course there those stupid headbands all over the place.

Granted the top of the lineup isn't exactly enough to strike fear into the hearts of most little league pitchers lately, but stranger things have happened in the last week than if the Cubs were to win this in extras, or even the ninth.

If it weren't for his defense and hustle out in the field, I'd bet Fukudome would be hearing more boos or less "worship" for his offensive abilities since whenever his plate problems started.

True, I guess he is pretty trendy, but I still don't mind him getting a pass while the team is still successful.

Atleast we have Soriano/Theriot/Lee/ARam/Edmonds and DeRosa in the next two innings. So I like our chances against the Reds bullpen.

This Cubs team is one big offensive inning and nothing else.

If they can't put up a crooked number in any one inning in a game, hello 0-1-2 runs in said game.

Not a large sample size, but Sunday @ Florida; 1 run until the 7th, score 8 and win 9-2. Last night vs Reds, 1-0 for a large part of the game and score 4 at the end to win 5-0. And there's lots more of those games to reference if spent the time to research.

but i would argue this point- if the main purpose of the game was to make arroyo pitch to get him out of the game early, consider how many pitches he made, and then consider who his manager is.

weathers in to pitch the 8th, i wonder if that's enough time to get something going.

This was brought up last week sometime, but the Cubs' 7/8 hitters are the best in the NL. If the Cubs either win it or force it to extras, it'll happen in the 9th (or at least I'd bet on it that way).

But since we're not gonna get that far, nevermind. 1 pitch groundout for Sori. Nice show of patience, Alf. [-(

Arroyo has shut down some good offenses on the year, allowing two runs through 8 vs the Mets and 2 runs through 6 against the Brewers. He is still capable of pitching good games and did so tonight. It happens in baseball sometimes. I wish people would calm down when we are a 29 over .500 team and we are still only down 1 in a game in the 8th.
