He's basically a righty Mark Grace these days with more power and (as of right now) less OBP.

Nothing wrong with that, really.

derrek lee is not going to make or break this team right now, no matter where he hits

the problem is a year or two down the line when he's making 15 mil with an .800 ops and unmovable contract

I think its funny that you guys quote stats all day to argue with people. But when one of your favorites ie Rich Hill or Derek Lee is performing bad its simply a statistical anomaly.

Way to completely make all of that up.

I didn't see the game yesterday, but I was listening on the radio and assume that Lee's home run was aided by the wind. What is his home/away split of home runs? It sure seems to me that he hits his home runs almost exclusively when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley.

15 at home, 3 on the road.

Taking a quick glance at the wind, it looks like 3 home runs against the wind, 5 or 6 with a cross wind, and 6 or 7 with the wind blowing out at home.

He's got two more years at $13 mil./year. Even an .800 OPS won't hurt too much in a platoon with Hoffpauir.

Well maybe some of you will get your wish now since Lee left with back spasms. I wonder if the people clamoring for Lee to get less PT, are the same people who want Caleb Hanie to have a shot at the Bears QB job.

Micah Hoffpauir is not a major league hitter.

Lee not producing = off year

Theriot producing = lucky year

**Not saying the latter is what I believe, but it is a general sentiment on threads here.**

Except Lee's career numbers suggest this is an off year, while Theriot is head and shoulders above his career numbers. It's not out of the realm to think DLee can pick it up. It also not out of the realm to think of this as an off year.

Do you not see the reasoning behind this? Lee has a much longer track record than Theriot does. The numbers Theriot has put up are alot better than anything Ryan has done in his minor league career, or his short major league career. If you cant see the justification for it then I dont really know what to tell you.
