Dylan Johnson was taken off Peoria's DL yesterday (and homered for the Chiefs); the corresponding move was placing Cliff Andersen on the DL with a calf strain.

Veal, Hernandez, and Huseby need to pitch better.

Huseby has been pitching better. Not great still, but he's actually been making it out of the first inning.

Q: Sean from Spencerport, NY asks:

Could Micah Hoffpauir be a legitimate replacement possibility for Derrek Lee at First Base when his contract ends after 2010? Or will Micah be dealt beforehand?

A: Matt Eddy: Hoffpauir will be 30.5 at the end of the 2010 season. For his sake, let's hope he's with a different organization by then, because he can hit: .377/.402/.779 with 21 homers and 30 doubles in a half-season at Iowa.

That's kinda weird... Hoffpauir's AVG+OBP=SLUG

OPS of 1.181 is always nice.

How in the hell did you notice that? Do you just randomly add up numbers you see?

With slash stats, yeah. Every once in a while, you get people around here who go OBP/SLUG/OPS... to spot check that they haven't done that, I've gotten in the habit of adding the first two numbers and seeing if they match the third...

Veal: 3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K. Tennessee down 1-0 in the middle of the 3rd.

Daytona up 2-0 in the middle of the 3rd on a Ryan Harvey 2-run shot.

Dylan Johnston hit a HR (3-run shot) in his second straight game since coming off the DL. 3-0 Peoria after 1.

Hernandez' final line: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.

He racked up a high pitch count (I think Nathan said 74 pitches) thanks to those walks.

Veal: 4 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HR.

Marquez Smith hit a HR for Daytona too.

It wouldn't be a minor league game thread w/o asking about Vitter's line tonight....

0 for 1 with a pop out thus far. Rundle walked and Flaherty struck out on either side of Vitters.

Vitters creepin' on .350 :!:

any chance Josh gets promoted this year? Or is it too late in the year to worry about that?

It might happen but it won't really accomplish much. He'll start next year at Peoria and 2 weeks at Peoria this season won't push his ETA up.
