One of the local radio shows interviewed Chip a couple weeks ago. I remember him saying something about how the Cards, Braves, and Dodgers were the "class of the NL." No mention of the Cubs.

So no one answered my question. To everyone whining and complaining and justifying Brenly's ripping of Soriano, do you REALLY think he's gonna do that in October in the playoffs?

I'm taking the silence in response to this question as the deep seeded knowledge, that allthough it's bush league, everyone knows it's not going to happen when the games are do or die.

This is a stupid question. First off, I have no idea. He's done similar things multiple times. But why does it only matter if it happens in October? What if it actually does cost them a game that affects the date they clinch and forces them to use pitchers they wanted to rest.

Anybody getting on Brenly is being absolutely ridiculous.

This is about as meaningful to me as Aram hustling.

They were up 8-2. In my opinion the reaction to Soriano was pretty stupid. IF it was a close game, I'd be more concerned.

Soriano also got thrown at because of it. Would you have the same opinion if that ball had actually hit him and Soriano got hurt and had to miss a month or two?

Wait so now I have to take into consideration the depths to which other teams sink, to form my opinion on behavior of players on my team?

Yes. If you think another team is going to retaliate if you showboat, I would suggest you don't showboat.

I give up. I'm not arguing this anymore. I don't think it's a huge deal, yea he should run out the single and not pose, but with his production I'm not about to have the sky fall about it.

We're 25 games over .500, I don't need to find something to complain about this team just for the sake of complaining which it SEEMS like (I was told using the word seems makes every assertion ok) many people do.

no you weren't.

We aren't asking him to run out a single. We're asking him to not turn a double into a single. This isn't a case of a guy thinking he had a HR and making it close at 2nd, nor is it a guy failing to bust out of the box on a routine grounder or pop fly. It was a sure stand-up double and he wasn't even on first base yet when the OFer grabbed the ball.

People apparently don't even know what happened.

I just watch the game on DVR and my thoughts:

1: On the Soriano's "turning a double into a single" : That can't be accepted. I don't care if it's the playoffs, or just a early August game. I don't care if Soriano doesn't bust his chops getting out of the box on what he thinks is a homerun, but essentially posing is something I'm not a fan off. Don't hustle out of the box, I could live with---not a fan of, but could live with---but posing, I do not like. And I am pretty sure Lou isn't a fan of the "posing."

2: As for the the 9th inning drama with Soriano and Bueno: My god, did the Cubs take a bathroom break on each and every Braves players cornflakes or what? It seems to me that every time the Cubs have come to Atlanta there is an incident. I know Soriano hit 3 bombs against them last yr, the next game Hudson---I believe---hits Soriano, and Lilly tries to protect Soriano, and Lilly gets ejected while Hudson stays in the game. Not to mention Renteria just about severely injured Theriot on a hard slide, and wasn't ejected.

Look, I am all for a bean ball war before the 31st of July, but after the deadline, I don't want the Cubs to get involved with a beanball war that could lead to suspensions. We don't need key players having to sit out, because of some code. Do the beating on the scoreboard, where it hurts more. Just take the high road.

I'm not justifying it but maybe Soriano's showboating had to do with the fact that they broke his hand last time he faced them.

That makes sense to me. It doesn't make it right.

Watching possible homers without running has been an issue throughout Soriano's big league career. He was criticized by the Yankees following the 2001 AL Championship Series opener for failing to run out a ball he thought was a home run against Seattle and getting only to first base when it clanked off the wall.

There's your answer

Not sure if this was mentioned, but from my seats I could see Francoeur standing on the top steps yelling at Soriano as he posed and trotted to first. In the 9th when Bueno came up and in, Jeff was also the first, and only, guy up and yelling more at the umps for the ejection.
