Now I know how Detroit fans feel. I always wondered what it was like to have your team just skate circles around everybody else.

This team can skate like no other I've seen. They skate it out of the zone instead of dumping it, and they can skate it into the offensive zone. I love it.

There aren't any Detroit fans til the 2nd round of the playoffs ;)

Wait a minute...actually there is some truth to this...of course there was no thing as a Blackhawk fan until this year

You see, this is just trolling. Blackhawks has always had fans, Bill Wirtz was the reason why most stopped following the Hawks. Just because Bill Wirtz basically killed hockey in Chicago from the early 90s to 2006, doesn't mean there weren't Hawks fans.

Now Red Wings fans are like Braves fans.

No, there were. They were just napping. For 10 years.

What else can be said that I haven't said after every game for the last month? These guys are really good and they know it. Everyone was carping about the lack of production from Buff. But through 32 games he has 9 goals. He's on pace for 23. That's outstanding.

And I have to again mention the effort we seem to get every night from Andrew Ladd. He made some excellent plays on the backcheck that turned the play right around and kept the puck from getting anywhere near Huet. I don't think he scored tonight, but he's playing the kind of hockey we're gonna need come late April.

I'm gonna miss the game Tuesday night unless I can get a stream while sitting at an airport in Colorado. Bummer.

I think there were plenty of fans, most of which were forced into hibernation/apathy by Bill Wirtz.

It's sad and morbid, but Wirtz's passing was the best thing to happen to this franchise.

One quick absurd "how good have the Hawks been lately" stat: with tonight's win, the Hawks have now caught the Sharks in goal differential.

With this victory, the Hawks improve to 10-0-1 in December and SET THE FRANCHISE WIN STREAK MARK... by winning 9 in a row!!!

Whats the league record?

Hehe... don't count on it... our next 8:

@ Detroit

vs. Detroit

vs. Flames

@ Coyotes

@ Avalanche

@ Predators

vs. Predators

vs. Sabres

IF we get past Detroit both times, I really only see the Flames/Predators (1/2)/Sabres in our way... but we can wish!

EDIT: And let me emphasize... any of you that watched tonight's game, witnessed history. No other Hawk fan can say they watched this original 6 team win 9 straight.

God damn it feels good to witness history and bring the sport back to Chicago!

also, 26 more games and you guys will tie the flyers' record unbeaten streak.

Now Red Wings fans are like Braves fans.

that has a lot more to do with the michigan economy being completely in the toilet than it does with red wings fans not giving a crap any more.

I agree the economy has stunk in Michigan... but last year there were tons of empty seats for every game in the 1st round. I am pretty sure there are enough upper middle class people in "Hawkey Town" to buy tickets to a Wings playoff game.

If Lidstrom is still out, Beating the Wings twice wont be that hard.

Even with him out twice in a row is a little rough

I know you guys will hate me and call me a conspiracy theorist for saying this... but... the Hawks WILL win the Winter Classic and I urge you to watch the calls for and against the Hawks. I think the Hawks are going to have the "Crosby Edge" in that game in order to further market a team that's been in the gutter for a long time.

Wouldnt mind that for once

I think the economy does have something to do with it, ticket prices also. As a Wings fan though, I dont get that worked up over regular season hockey. I watch, I cheer but understand that it really isnt that important. Of course part of this is being spoiled. I expect us to win the division every year. So being a top 3 seed is usually a given. I enjoy that the Hawks are doing well and I certainly remember when the Wings came alive from the Dead things era and made me interested in Hockey again. Truth is though, over the last 15 years I have learned that regular season means little. Too many 1st round playoff losses to get that excited over a win against the Wild on Dec 28th.

Already happened earlier this year. 8 power plays to 3. Pretty rare to see that kind of disparity in a NHL hockey game.

Posted

1st: DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN

2nd: NIKLAS BACKSTROM

3rd: CRISTOBAL HUET

Ok... how did Backstrom get second star?

A) Huet's 1 GA was better than Backstrom's 1 goal.

B) Toews and Steeger and even Wisniewski were better on the ice than Backstrom.

This years team is on pace to be the best in franchise history, which is kind of sad...but, still thats pretty cool.

I don't think it's sad. It's not like they are on pace to just be pretty good, they are on pace for a 116 point season. And with the changes to they way the league awards points, you are going to see these "best team season ever" records being broken fairly regularly.

Just watching the 3rd period last night, and a tear comes to my eye.

In years past, with a 2 goal lead, invariably you'd see the Hawks play the game almost entirely in their own zone, like they're defending a power play or something. And many times the other club would tie it up.

Last night? The final 5 minutes was nearly the opposite. It was awesome seeing the Wild with 6 men, still sitting in their own zone trying to defend an open net against our 5. Crowd booing the whole time.

Awesome. Awesome.

That's how you kill a rally before it starts.

I love this team.

You're telling me... this is an incredibly special team that could be poised for history... IF we sweep Detroit, the skys the limit!
