08-09' Blackhawks (46-24-12) 104 PTS - 4th Seed In The West!

The Blackhawks are doing a wonderful job of squandering all the fan interest they managed to drum up in the offseason.

1 point out of 6, that puts them about 2.5 points behind a playoff pace already.

Cubs started out 1-3 and the Brewers 3-1 and we turned out ok.

Well....until last week.

True but 162 games / = 82 games.

If the Hawks won 45+ games I'd be happy, would you?

Different sports, different season lengths, different spread between good and bad teams.

Let's try winning one damn game first before we talk about winning 45.

I'm just saying, if the fans go away because of 3 bad games, then whatever. 3 games is nothing. If they went 0-2-1 in the middle of the season no one would blink an eye.

They don't *have* the fans though. They are trying to get them. There is a buzz about this team right now, and a bad start can take that away.

I hear ya. They'll come back if they start winning though. I kinda had a feeling this is the kinda start we would get. Typical Chicago sports team that can't live up to any sort of hype.

Sad but true.............

EDIT: BTW.... Coyotes aren't gonna be an easy win either... and starting 0-3-1 is really, not an option.

And a very large spread between teams that make the playoffs and teams that don't. A slow start in MLB can make it nearly impossible to be one of the 4 teams in your league to win it, not so in NHL, with double the playoff participants.

However, they are doing everything possible to eliminate the momentum from last season. The red carpet thing was tacky. They signed a purported #1 goalie in the offseason and can't allow the fans to rally around him because they are stuck with their last ill-advised goalie signing (probably) taking half the starts. They have scored just 2 goals a game after emphasizing goal scoring all offseason, and don't play well on defense.

Blackhawks fans have had the rug ripped out from under them before, and I have to believe they may very well fear the same thing is happening now. A lot of people coughed up a big chunk of change in a tough economic climate, and if they aren't a winning team by November, they could completely lose everything they built from a fan excitement standpoint.

I hope Toews calling a players only meeting 3 games in isn't a sign of panic on the horizon.

Captain or not, when a 19 year old player is calling team meetings 3 games into the season, I get a little worried.

0-2-1 start notwithstanding, I went ahead and ordered Center Ice today. It's the last day for the "early bird" price. With so many of the games in HD and getting the Hawks feed for most games, it's a no-brainer.

Now let's start winning so I don't regret this!

As bad as Habby has been Huet has actually been worse so far this year. I'm not blaming all the goals on them but we paid top dollar for both of them and both are mediocre.
