Springer had one year with an ERA below 3.40 in his career prior to signing with the Cardinals at age 38, and since his ERA's are 2.18 last year and 2.25 coming into today.

And I just noticed that last year he logged his career high for innings as a reliever, and is on pace to approach that again this year.

He's a freaking reliever. I mean, you find competent relievers everywhere. Not all teams are dumb enough to pay millions for the Remlingers, Eyres and Howrys of the world.
