i don't think geo is going to see a fastball on the inner half of the plate ever again.

Especially when he's hitting 8th.

So it was said if we didn't get Kouske we were gonna ship players to the A's for Swisher..Who would you guys rather have?

Swisher. Easily.

Really? Using hindsight, I'd take Fuk.

Swish is younger and cheaper.

I'd take Fukudome. The pieces we would have used to get Swisher likely would have kept us from having the right pieces for Harden.

I'd take Fukudome also. But, Swisher would give a backup first baseman and would allow Ward to be replaced with a better hitter. Although at the beginning of the season I thought it was great having DWard on the bench......not so much anymore.

True....I'd definetley take Fukudome's defense though..Isnt Swisher batting like .234? He is a threat at the plate though,He had the game winning HR in extras yesterday.

Swisher has a good OBP too.

Soto batting 8th is still weird to me. It's like Dusty is managing with his "speedy OF leads off, MIF bats second, catcher bats 8th" nonsense. Batting the guy with the 3rd best SLG and OPS+ 8th is bad managing.

OPS+ is a weird way to measure a lineup, since it's comparative measure based on position. If the Cubs were playing eight catchers today and Soto hit eighth, yes, that'd be weird.

And overall, it's really not weird. His OPS is below .750 in the last two months or so.

For my 9,000th post...

Has anyone here read "Veeck as in Wreck?"

I might have to pick that up at the library. Looking for a good baseball read.

Kosuke may not be as good as we was earlier, but he was very crucial to our early season success that got us to first to begin with, so you should factor that into such a decision.

OPS+ is not adjusted for position

I said in a previous post I would go with Fukudome. I'm just adding to the positives of Swisher.

imagine if it was though? zambrano's ops+ would be like 1000.

Fuku is better in the field, but I think Swisher is the better hitter. That being said, it depends on what we had to give up to get him. I guess I should change my answer to "leaning towards Swisher".
