Im just curious as to what available players are going to get them going and help them storm past 3 teams that are far superior to them. Granted, Randy Wolf was a nice start, but where do they go from there? Rich Aurilia? Gerald Laird? John Grabow? Theres really not much available now that Colorodo has decided not to sell. They just need to wait for the offseason and grab a pitcher or 3 if they want any hope.

It's crazy. They went from a good GM (Tim Purpora) to a terrible one.

Uh, no.

They went from one of the best in the game (Hunsicker) to a guy so far in over his head that anyone with an ounce of compassion had to feel sorry for him (Purpura) to a Lynch-level GM (Wade).

Yes Hunsicker is the guy I was thinking of.

The Astros are close to a deal with the Yankees that would send reliever LaTroy Hawkins to Houston for a low minor-leaguer, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions. Hawkins would be the second prospective free agent the Astros have traded for this month. They also obtained rent-a-starter Randy Wolf from San Diego on July 22.

 Is it possible to express how happy I am that Ed Wade is the Houston general manager?

I bet he's not looking forward to next weeks trip to Wrigley. If you think C-Patt got his share of boos.

Latroy has already been back to Wrigley.

3 times in 2005, once in 2007.

is ed wade confusing the fecal league standings with the playoff/wild card standings???

Truffle, it should be obvious that Latroy Hawkins and Randy Wolf can make up 13 games in the standings.

They're juggernauts now.

Why are the Astros acquiring players when they should be trading them away for prospects or at least giving a major league look at the prospects they already have in their system?

Only Ed Wade can answer that. . .
