Stark: Braves inform teams Teixeira is available

Well, it's official. The Mark Teixeira auction is on. According to an executive of a club that spoke with the Braves' brass Monday afternoon, they have begun informing other teams they plan to trade Teixeira this week if they get the right deal. The four teams that so far have expressed some level of interest: Diamondbacks, Rays, Red Sox, Angels.

I know this is outside the box thinking, but what abotu Tex for LF with Soriano to RF, and Fuku to CF? I know it's been a few yrs since he's played LF, and it's a very small sample (career numbers as a LFer: .294/.415/.706/1.121/.273 in 34 atbats/41 PA). I know it's prolly not even talked about, but Tex, Fuku, and Sori are all athlethic enough to move positions for half a season, and would allow the Cubs to get another bat. But the problem I see is do the Cubs have enough to make the Braves pass on getting a couple of picks?

I don't think either deal would make them any better this year, and it would definitely make them worse in the future

I can't see the D-Backs giving up Jackson, not for a rental.

Uhh..not sure what Rosenthal article you were talking bout but his latest says that they will give up Tracy but not Conor. Along with a non Scherzer guy like Micah Owings.

 

Olney from ESPN says he also thinks Tracy plus non Scherzer pitcher.

Yeah, all I have seen says the D-Backs want to give Tracy +. I really can't see then going as high as Jackson.

No, the only real deal they are looking at is the Washburn deal. Seattle has lost their mind on that though.

 

Right now the Yankees really don't have anywhere to play him. I can see them bidding if he reaches FA and Giambi goes. But right now I am not sure that even then they will go as high as Boras wants, of course he will use them to bump everyone else's offers. To be honest I see Giambi coming back for another season.

On a related note, it sucks that Chipper/Hudson/Tex all might miss the Brewers series this week and the first 2 are def. missing the current Cards series.

That would be a great deal for the Braves- 2 good hitters (Tracy and Owings) and a pitcher (Owings) for Tex.
