Cards get AA right-hander Luis Perdomo and cash.

Perdomo, 24, was named to the Call-A Carolina League All-Star team this year after posting a 3-1 mark with a 0.92 ERA and 18 saves for Kinston.. he was 2-0 with a 3.52 ERA in 9 games with Akron (AA) of the Eastern League and has combined to go 5-1 with a 1.66 ERA, 19 Saves, and 60 strikesout in 54.1 innings pitched this season. The 6-0, 170-pound Perdomo will be assigned to the Springfield Cardinals (AA) roster.

I love the fact that this could be a potentially huge steal for the Indians. And, even if it isn't, it wont really hurt us in any way. I'm excited to see this guy pitch. I don't know much about him other than his big season in '05.

Fastball 92-94

Plus Change

Decent Curve

Fastball-Change is his bread and butter. Locates well, likes to pitch up in the zone with the fastball. A complete steal by the Indians IMO. Cards tried to make him throw a 2 seamer, and he just didn't have a good one and couldn't locate it. Then they decided he wasn't good enough to play (in a rebuilding year) over Looper or Pineiro and banished him to the bullpen and AAA despite having only pitched 200 MLB innings and having more success than the other guys that kept getting called up this year. He was just very poorly handled by the Cardinals.

This is one of the few instances where I can really say that the Cards kind of screwed themselves. Duncan can only get success from one type of guy and Reyes didn't want to/ have the ability to pitch to contact like the Duncan system dictates. I think within 2 years you'll see Reyes pitching at the level of a solid 3-4 man and getting quite a few strikeouts just because they'll let him be what he is, a power pitcher who likes to throw that 4 seamer high in the zone and use his off speed stuff as his strikeout pitch.

I think this could be a huge steal by the Indians. Reyes looked real good the year he came up half way through the season. He had a rough year last year, but also I don't think he meshed well with Duncan. If hes even reasonably back to the 2 years ago guy he could be a mid rotation pitcher that they can ad to there rotation.

Everyone but the Cards realized that he needed a change of scenery 2 years ago and that delaying that would only hurt his value. They got a live arm for him, but 2 years ago they could have gotten a hell of alot more.
