Looks like we're gonna have to beat the Brewers ourselves.

Fuentes would look nice closing out games in MIL, yes?

See now why I said a split was about the best thing that could happen?

To be honest, I still don't understand why a split would be the best thing. I've been rooting for a sweep the whole time, and while I preferred a Cardinals sweep, a Brewers sweep isn't too bad either.

Brewers sweep is bad because they're much better than the Cardinals.

How many game are we up on St. Louis now. 3 or 4

I think its 5 actually, will check.

Looks like 4 so we are up 4 games for a playoff spot. Which is good, especially after the last few games.

In some ways that means it's bad. In other ways you kind of want the inferior team to get swept. If the Cardinals keep playing badly, the Cubs shot of being in the playoffs just keep going up and up. If the Brewers had gotten swept, there would still be a worry that they would go on a run and make it a true 3 team race. If it were just a division race, I definitely would hate a Brewers sweep. But in this situation, it really isn't that bad.

Well, the sweep hurts our chances of winning the division, but it really helps our chances of making the playoffs. Winning the wild card might not actually be the worst thing for this team. In a short series the only 2 teams that can really match up with our 1-2 starters are Milwaukee and Arizona. Obviously we can't possibly play Milwuakee in a short series, and if we win the wild card we'd likely avoid Arizona and play the East winner in the NLDS. I don't think the Mets or Phillies match up well with us in a short series at all. The only question is whether or not home field advantage is more important that all that.

With the way people were going crazy over the All Star game, I'm guessing it's important.

It looks like my first game thread will be the last game in the Brewers series!!

Are you seriously predicting a 7 game losing streak?

Uh, no. How did you get that?

Cardinals are 35-35 since May 6th.

And we've been hovering around 20 games over for a long time, something like 2 months

You're missing the fun of arbitrary start points.

The Cubs are 40-28 in that timeframe.

You're 7 losses away from starting a game thread and if you're first game thread is the last game of the Brewers series, that would mean we will next the next 7 games.

Wow. Braun sure did admire his homer.

Wrong team to do it against with Mr., don't you dare throw at my guys, but I'll throw at your children's skull, managing the other team.
