"Men, this stuff that some sources sling around about the Cubs choking and fading and curses, not wanting to win, is a crock of bullflop. My Cubs love to win. All real Cub fans love the sting and clash of battle. You are here today for three reasons. First, because you are here to support your team and its players. Second, you are here for your own self respect, because you would not want to be anywhere else. Third, you are here because you are real fans and all real vcub fans like to kick butt. When you, here, everyone of you, were kids, you all admired the champions of our club --- Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ryne Sandberg, and Ron Santo. Cub fans love a winner. Cub fans will not tolerate a loser. Cub fans despise cowards. These Cubs play to win all of the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a ball player who lost and laughed. That's why these Cubs will never lose a baseball war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an these Cubs."

It's time to stick our boots on the throats of the Cardinals and Brewers. It's time to kick butt and take names. Today begins the second half of the season. This is where the rubber meets the road, friends.

It's time to scrap this idea that the cubs aren't good on the road. They need to suck it up and dominate on the road. Lilly is ten times the pitcher that Moehler is. The cubs are ten times the team that the Astros are.

Don't just play like a champion today --- BE ONE.

I leave tomorrow afternoon for Houston. I'll be at this game.

I have been to a game at Enron/Minute Maid, and I will say, it's one of my favorite new stadiums in the game today.

I have been to a game at Enron/Minute Maid, and I will say, it's one of my favorite new stadiums in the game today.

I actually hate the stadium, but it's the closest NL park to me, so I see the Cubs there every year.

GO CUBS!!!!

WORLD SERIES OR BUST!!!

I hate Marquis more than anyone, but Lilly is crap this year and I have no confidence in him either ( I know he's had good starts with a 3 sumthin ERA in 6 starts)..He's a junk balling left who can't get away with throwing anything in the zone..I miss the Lilly from last year where it was 90-93 MPH consistenly with off-speed stuff and threw hitters off..I have no good feeling about this one especially against Lee,Berkman, and Tejada in the Juicebox...Lets get to 21 over after this one PLEASE

Wow, Lilly has owned the Astros. Tejada, Lee, Pence, and Berkman are a combined 9 for 65 against TRL. Berkman 1-11 w/ 5 Ks, Pence 0-6, 3 Ks. Those are the Astros likely 3-6 hitters tonight.

The Cubs likely 3-6 hitters are 19 for 56 vs. Moehler, with 7 HRs. Edmonds is 12-34 with 5 HRs against Moehler.

I leave tomorrow afternoon for Houston. I'll be at this game.

I'm actually making my first trip to Houston for Friday and Saturday's games. Do you have any suggestions?

Edit: I realized maybe this shouldn't be in a game thread. Sorry if it was inappropriate.

The city of Houston sucks.

As a Cub fan living in Texas, I urge the team to win this series and preferably sweep. I have a healthy hatred for Astros fans now.

Where are your seats? Who are you going with? What kind of suggestions do you need?

I've always disliked them, but when my local paper continued to name them the "Home Team", I discovered all kinds of hatred for the team and their fans.

I have been to a game at Enron/Minute Maid, and I will say, it's one of my favorite new stadiums in the game today.

Every fly ball that Astros hit to left field/left center scares me. Not even just the idea of the fly balls being home runs, but also the ones that go bounding off the cement facade.

I don't think you are giving him enough credit. He's not the Ted Lilly of last year (and to be honest, people that thought he would be are pretty naive ) but after his first 4 awful starts, his ERA is 3.82 with a 1.28 ERA. His career numbers are 4.48 and 1.34, so for the season, including his bad starts he's pretty much at his career numbers. Again, Ted Lilly is not a number 2 starter, but now that we have Harden in the mix, he makes a decent number 3-4 starter. You can bet that he will be our 3 starter in the playoffs if everyone is healthy because Lou will want a lefty.

Remember that week when the Astros were in striking distance of the division lead? Thank God that's over.

My wife and I will be leaving Hattiesburg tomorrow and we'll be in section 410 tomorrow and 319 Saturday.

I don't know for sure what suggestions I have in mind. What's it like getting to Minute Maid? What's parking like? What is the area around Minute Maid like? Are there any things we must do in Houston during the day Saturday? Are there any great restaurants for a graduate student's budget? I guess that's the kind of stuff I was thinking of.

I have a hard time seeing Lou slotting Dempster 4th in a playoff rotation with the season he's having, even if he does want a lefty. I also think there's no way Z and Harden aren't starting 1,2 to make sure they get the most starts...

I guess we'll see, though.

Yeah, maybe I wrote my post wrong. I think by default Lou's rotation will be Z, Harden, Lilly, Dempster. But I guess it all depends on how things are in late September. Harden could be hurt, Hill could come back and dominate, Dempster could wear down with the high number of innings he's thrown. It also depends on the matchups of course. If we face a lineup with a lot of lefties, Lou will probably want Lilly in there. A lot of righties, and maybe Lilly gets bumped for Dempster.
