the cubs are just in one of those spells where they are not getting away with absolutely anything including cheap hits by the other team. I knew that dumb little knock was gonna hurt

howd the cubs score today? swinging bunt, base hit, double play

thats cheaper than a base hit up the middle followed by a home run

Only because Lee has been god awful lately. If he would have done anything good in that at bat it wouldn't look so cheap.

He did something good. He hit the ball hard. What happens after that is luck.

still that could have been a great inning, not a lucky cheap one.

You would really think Cubs fans would be able to handle the ups and downs of a 162 game season better than this....

...now, if Z is out for any significant amount of time, I will be throwing things (or at least yelling swear words or something).

the truth of it is I don't give a crap about this game if we get good news on Z

This drives me crazy. I want Z to be ok too but its not dependent on how the team does. If he's hurt, he's hurt. We've got to get back to winning. If Z's ok and we lose, I'm still pissed.

The best I have ever felt after a loss is when we got Nomar 2 minutes after it.

Why? We're usually down, that's easy to deal with. Being up is unusual, and it makes us nervous.

who sets up the schedule anyway to have a night game in tampa then a day game against the sox... didn't they say the Cubs didn't even take BP today?

That went well, didn't it.

Agreed. I am greedy. I want good news on Z, and I want to beat the crap at of the "other" Chicago team.

Valid...makes sense. But to me it's more like, "Wow, we're actually pretty good." I'm more relaxed this year and find myself looking at the big picture a lot more.

the team is just at its worst right now with lee slumping, johnson and edmonds hurting and Z questionable at best.... you can't throw murton, cedeno, marshall and whoever else in there and think it's gonna keep up especially if marmol and eyre have many more innings like the one yesterday

The most talented Cubs team I have ever seen (up till this one, probably)... just ran out of gas at the end or something. Let's just not talk about what happened after that, actually.

I hate the fact that I have lost a lot of faith in this offense over the course of 3 games.

Really, I'm mad at myself...I know it's a completely irrational thought. :banghead:
