JUCO transfer. 2nd leading scorer in the country last year. He's being coached to solely play defense and rebound due to the deficiencies there from our other big men.

What to expect? He's a JUCO, who knows. If he sticks to the plan and worries about D and boards only and isn't your standard JUCO who wants to get his 15 shots then I think he'l be a big help. Don't expect much more than 6-7 points a game though.

UI has a big backcourt, but that front court is pretty undersized. Are they athletic?

davis sure is a leaper, but he'll get pushed around a lot

Not expecting too much from my boys in Raleigh. However the recruiting class for 2009-2010 looks impressive. Lowe has shown he can recruit, it's just a matter of coaching now.... :-k

You know that Frazier is starting though. Hell Trent probably will too.

I hope so. I really have liked what I have seen from Semrau so far this year. Granted I have only seen one game, but he was a lot further along then I thought he would be.

With 6 newcomers it's really hard for me to guess Mizzou's starting 5. They'll probably open the season with

F Leo Lyons 6-9 Senior

F Demarre Carroll 6-8 Senior

G Matt Lawrence 6-7 Senior

G J.T. Tiller 6-4 Junior

G Zaire Taylor 6-4 Junior (Transfer from Delaware)

By the end of the season, any or all of the 3 freshmen guards (Marcus Denmon 6-3, Miguel Paul 6-1, Kim English 6-6) could be in the starting lineup.

And I was so nice to you about the Twins.

Lyons is the only member of the Athena 5 left, and he's more likely to pull a Joaquin Phoenix and start his rap career in earnest.

Plus Miguel Paul is Chris Paul's cousin, which means his nickname is MP3, which is somehow multiple kinds of terrible and awesome at the same time.

AP Preseason All-American Team: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3679952&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

• Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina, 6-9, senior, 72 votes

• Stephen Curry, Davidson, 6-2, junior, 66 votes

• Luke Harangody, Notre Dame, 6-8, junior, 58 votes

• Darren Collison, UCLA, 6-1, senior, 46 votes

• Blake Griffin, Oklahoma, 6-10, sophomore, 45 votes

Curry, really? Isn't he still just a shooter? I like him and all, but don't think he is more worthy than a guy like Ellington.

The ability to create his own shot. In all seriousness if Wayne Ellington was on Davidson he would put up those numbers too.

Oh and the joke pick is Darren Collison. He averaged 15 pts and 4 assists while playing 35 minutes a game. That is no where near All-American. Ty Lawson is the first guy who comes to mind that is a better choice than Collison (probably not the top choice). He averaged 3 less points but had more points per shot (aka Hansborough keeps him from scoring 15+), more rebounds, a full 1.4 assists more, a much better assist to turnover ratio and shot over .500 from the field.

He very well might but if you go down that road then there is a lit of 40 guys you could say that about. The fact is no one knows if someone else could do it and Curry IS doing it.

Did you not watch the tournament last year? Sure he shots the three a lot but he was also driving a lot. He averaged 32 points against top teams no else did that.

I'm hoping DC doesn't play half the season with a sprained knee again this year, which REALLY hampered his numbers last season.

besides, this is a preseason all american team, not a 2007-2008 postseason all american team

Yes I saw what he did, but don't think he is as good as he played for two weekends.

he was the darling of the dance and instantly became illini fans's #1 hero to eric gordon's villain. soon after, it became derrick rose, despite the fact that he, too, spurned us for another school.

but those guys in the backcourt would have made us a final four team, no doubt. the funny thing is that gordon decommitted shortly after the illini failed to make rose's final cut. if we're in rose's top 3 when he releases the list, gordon would have been an illini.

the fact remains that rose didn't want to play with gordon, which is why we didn't make the initial cut and why rose never seriously considered iu after gordon committed there.

Yeah he was for sure fun to watch and is a good player. I just don't think he is as good as Ellington, but really what does it matter? This is just a preseason list.
