Come on, you pretty much know there's going to be a bunch of whining about the Cards in the 'other games' thread after they have a big comeback win based on a couple errors by the other team. Nobody's that naive.

I agree with bruno on this though: scoreboard/standings watching in mid June isn't going to serve much purpose. Things can and probably will drastically change in one way or the other by the time we get to September.

That doesn't mean I can't comment on it nor feel that some would rather chalk it up to something other than the Cards playing well.

Of course. My suggestion was merely this: if people posting a certain way is really frustrating you, and you don't want to be frustrated by it anymore, then stay away from those posts that make you frustrated.

The Cards are playing well. I don't think that makes them a "good team" though. They hung around until when? Early September last year? I didn't consider them a good team while they were playing well last year, even in August or whenever it was that they finally ran out of gas.

And none of this means as a Cub fan I can't bemoan the fact that they are playing above their heads. I would very much just like them to go away. You know, like they did last year. The sooner the better. :good:

This is absolutely the luckiest team I've ever seen. Give me a freaking break.

I know. It's not like they've lost their Ace, starting catcher and the best hitter in baseball all in the span of a week. Super Lucky!

Yet they're still winning. That's the point. Today was another game that they had absolutely no business winning and had it handed to them. "Here, have a win"

If the Phillies had won would you have said the same thing?

No? Why would I? Look at how many baserunners each team had.

I guess you could also look at errors and extra base hits.

Phillies- 21 baserunners

Cardinals- 10 baserunners

It's okay to admit that the Cardinals stole a game.

It's ok to admit that the amount of baserunners isn't the only thing that matters. The Phillies played sloppy and the Cards hit homeruns.

Utley's not likely to hand another game to a team for the rest of his career on two poor throws in one extra inning (yes, the 2nd one was an error charged to Gordon but was still a poor throw behind him).

The Cards got lucky, plain and simple.

And the Cardinals are not likely to walk four straight batters with 2 outs again this year. It was a 6-4 Cardinal lead until that point. I would say that the Phillies got pretty lucky as well.

Bruntlett was safe at home, the Cards are likely losers if that call was made correctly, regardless of LOB or errors or walks.

And lets not forget Ludwicks non catch the day before

I believe all this will even out as the season goes and we'll be left the best team on top - the Cubs. Most if not all the statistics indicate the Cubs are the superior team take, for example, run differential Cubs +108, Cards +24, at the moment the Cards do have the better road record but, I believe the Cubs will soon eclipse them there as well.

Last 3 Cardinals series:

Philly Ace: Hamels

Faced? No

Cincinnati Ace: Harrang, Volquez

Faced? No (both)

Houston Ace: Oswalt

Faced? No

The Cardinals not facing Oswalt is probably a good thing.
