"He's very, very upset," said Yost. "If he wasn't, I don't know if I'd want him on the team. I told him to keep his head up, keep working."

That explanation did little to appease Hall. And it probably didn't help that Branyan went out in his second game with the Brewers and struck out four times in an 0 for 5 performance.

"Going on the last four years, nothing makes any sense," he said. "My understanding is we needed a left-handed bat in the lineup and I was the odd man out. Does that make any sense? We'll see what happens the next couple of days."

Interesting...

Um, maybe its because hes the guy hitting .158 against lefties.

Well, it would be nice for a little dissent to keep the Brewers down. Hope they get frustrated enough to trade Hall. I'm sure there would be a lot of interested teams.

Gamel is at AA. He's killing the ball this year to a tune of a 384/443/649 line in the Southern League (He's out performing LaPorta right now). But the problem is that his defense at third is shaky. He already has 11 errors in 51 games.

He would be Braun-like at third. Maybe worse defensively.

Is it possible to be worse than Braun at third?

With Gamel, yes. He's making an error almost every fifth game.

That maybe, but he can hit and they have to play him somewhere. At some point they are going to have the worst defense ever.

They could probably get good value for Prince Fielder. They could then move either Gamel or Braun to 1st.

Matt LaPorta should be first in that line.

They could revolutionalize the game with their new 3 1B lineup!

Or they could petition to move back to the AL... :-k

WINNER. Do it!

Stop screwing up the size of our division, jerks.

bill hall, the card-carrying cub killer with the .753 OPS against us. people seem to have no idea what a cub-killer is... instead it's like every guy who has played a large number of games against the cubs has done something good against us, so he's a "cub killer"

real cub killers: pat burrell (career line of .305/.426/.576 vs the cubs, against .259/.370/.487 overall) and adam dunn (.262/.402/.610 career vs cubs with 36 (!!) home runs, against .249/.382/.521 overall).

That got me thinking to look up another player that I've always thought of as a "Cub killer" and wanted to see if it was true or just my perception - Brad Ausmus. It seems like he always came into a series against the Cubs hitting about .220 and then he'd consistently get big hits. Anyway, looking at the actual numbers it looks like a mixed bag (not going to post them all here). While he did have a decently higher OPS against us than his overall (.711 vs. .669) it's not like either of those are "gaudy" numbers. However, one thing that does stick out is how much more he likes to hit HRs against us then any other team. In his career, he's averaged 1 HR every 77.6 ABs. Yet against the Cubs, he's averaged 1 HR every 36.1 ABs. The Cubs are also the only team he has more than 10 HRs against (13). The next closest is St. Louis, at 8 (despite the fact that he's had 40 more ABs against them).

they would have to pay trademark fees to Hendry, who already patented the "Four second basemen lineup" last year

There are just some guys who seems to get a big hit every time they come to the plate againt us. Augie Ojeda, Jeff Keppinger, Hall etc.

In any case, if the Brewers have any sense, they're already shopping Hall for a decent starter or a few relievers. I could see Pittsburg as a good match if theyd be willing to move one of their young pitchers. Duke or Maholm for Hall sounds about right.

What do you want, a thesis? There are some guys who seem to hurt us every time. If the stats say they dont, they dont. Do you need a full apology?
