Baseball Prospectus, I believe via PECOTA, projected the Sox at 72 wins before last season.

The Sox players laughed off the stats geeks, and many Sox fans I know made it a point to berate and mock BP every chance they got early in the season for this ridiculous projection.

The final result: White Sox 72-90.

Baseball Prospectus, via PECOTA, projected the Sox at 82 wins in 2005. Perhaps this is where the skepticism and hubris comes from.

I was thinking about getting one with the current Sox logo, only in the colors of the Italian flag. Was pretty serious about it last year, might get it this year, but I don't know for sure yet, or how good it would look.

I've been thinking the same thing except the Ireland flag colors. The S in green the I in white and the X in orange.

The Chicago White Six...? :-k

Now that the offense is clicking, watch out for these guys. I want to say it wont last, and this team isnt built to be a contender, but I thought the same thing all through 2005. I just hope we're ready for them when they come to Wrigley in 2 weeks.

Sox have this division all but wrapped up.

Detroit's pitching is bad and Bonderman just went down for the year. They have no prospects left to trade for more.

Cleveland just lost Westbrook and have been bad on offense. Hafner is off the juice.

Minnesota just isn't good enough yet and have finally lost that psychological "edge" over the Sox since losing Hunter and Santana (not to mention they're damn good players).

Royals just suck.

They have a 5 and 1/2 game lead and Thome, Konerko, Swisher, and Buehrle have been awful. Game over.

Are their fans really this stupid? They must be like dealing with Oklahoma State fans...

He wasn't counting Thome, Konerko or Swisher.

This just in: The White Sox have forgotten how to lose.

They are crazy hot right now. They are going to run away with thier division. Hopefully we'll reap the spoils and obtain CC.

What a freaking joke. Is this the twilight zone where all the teams that weren't supposed to be good are world beaters? Are the Cubs the only normal team in the league?

Even if the White Sox make it to the series, the Phillies will stomp them

You know the Phillies wont beat the Cards in the NLCS.

Where do the Cubs fit into all this?

Hopefully beating the White Sox in the WS, but wouldnt it be the ultimate kick in the sack by the Baseball Gods if there were to be a White Sox/Cards WS in the 100th year since the last Cubs championship? The year that was suppoed to be "The Year"?

Another thing to remember is the AL Central has been a very weird division over the past few years. In '05, after having a ridiculous lead going into the break, the Sox almost collapsed down the stretch. Granted, they ended up taking the division by 6 games, but there was a time when Cleveland was like 1.5 behind them. The Next year, the magic year for The Tigers its easy to forget that in the end, they didnt even win the division and went to the WS as the Wild Card. With teams as talented but underachieving as the Tigers and Indians, and a team as streaky as the White Sox, nobodys run away with anything just yet.

Can you pitch, Mr. "I-have-to-refer-to-myself-in-the-third-person?"

I don't pay much attention the the White Sox...or the AL at all really, so I was pretty surprised to see that the Twins are just a half game back now. It's just a good thing they don't have Liriano getting the start tomorrow. That sure would suck for them.
