You can't criticize fans for wanting the guy to finish it. They aren't generally aware of the pitch count, and it's fun to see a complete game.

If you were at the game, would you want them to leave him in?

I'd probably join in the festivities of cheering/booing accordingly.

:)

Cubs are undefeated with Edmonds in the lineup!

Numbers don't lie, dude

14 combined Ks for Cubs pitchers today.

That makes 29 combined over two days. I wonder if the fielders are getting bored?

St. Louis losing 11-5 in the bottom of the ninth + the Brewers losing + Houston losing 6-0 in the fourth + CUBS WIN = A good day. Edited by soccer10k

Considering Edmonds would've had a three run homer on most days, I can't blast his debut. That one at bat with the bases loaded was terrible though.

Not that any GM of a contending team would do it in a million years, but wouldn't you be tempted to float Dempster's name on the open market right now just to see what he could bring in return just out of curiousity if nothing else? Edited by Elrhino

A few Cubs teams of note...

2003 Cubs were 24-17 after 41 games

2004 Cubs were 23-18

2001 Cubs were 21-20 (the last game of their 8 game losing streak which they followed up with an 8 game win streak)

I wasn't surprised with the K, though. Lou should have PH Johnson.

I really thought that flyout was gone off the bat, though. It sounded really good.

Yea. He's going to be garbage vs. lefties, no doubt.

Let's just hope he can do something vs. the righties.

He got booed after striking out w/ the bases loaded.

funny, those pictures make me want for him to put up numbers like he did a few short years ago until he stops wearing the Cubs uniform

Yeah, despite his douchebag self, if he plays well I'll be happy.

How weird would it be for him to hit a walk off to win a postseason or even *gasp* world series game?

Nah, I'd call it a wonderful day!

Cubs winning % without Edmonds: .600

Cubs winning % with Edmonds: 1.000

It's a .400 boost with Edmonds in there.

That said, I still hate him.

Dempster's era without Edmonds: 2.67

Depster's era with Edmonds: 0.00

Nothing funnier than stats without real basis.
