Gameday tells me Giles just made an out on a cutter. Does Wuertz throw a cutter? I thought he was just FB and slider.

Jesus why is Fontenot in?

WHY IS HE STILL ON THIS TEAM?

oh i don't know. .391 OBP? 117 OPS+? ability to play many positions, including middle infield? those might be some explanations.

What position can he play besides 2nd?

I think my roommate is getting laid

He went out to "dinner" tonight then he just got back, changed clothes, and said "i..'m going to my friends house and..i...uh..won't be back tonight" in english that is more chopped than usual.

way to go hyeongseong

sounds like his date's dinner is cream of sumyungai

Seriously, we dont have time to let some '80s burn out sing for coke money. We need to get this next inning in while we can.

I lol'd at that one, nice.

You're not doing a good job of looking at the alternatives. If theriot swings, there's a significant chance he gets a hit or walk (more than a third!) and does better than the sac. There's another 1/3 or more chance that he drives at least marquis to third while making an out, basically the same as a successful sac. There's a small chance he gets an out and no movement, and a very small chance of a dp.

theriot the last 28 days: .370/.452/.480/.932

yeah, that's a guy you want bunting. why not bunt with lee and ramirez in similar situations, whille you're at it?

As I said before, different situations for different management. No, I wouldn't bunt with Lee or Ramirez. Would I for Theriot in the right sitation (to get Lee, Ramirez and Fukudome possibly runners in scoring position when playing for 1 run to extend a possible weather delay) - yes?

Theriot sucks, he still can't hit, sample size....."yeah, tha'ts a guy you want bunting." So, now he's good then? Which one is it?

So please, explain why lowering your chances of scoring one run makes sac bunting a good idea

WHY IS HE STILL ON THIS TEAM?

Since April 27th:

Fontenot: .444/.643/.722

Cedeno>Fontenot

Both at bat and in the field.

The difference between them so far this year is approximately 2 singles, and Fontenot was projected for better numbers before the season.

Not to mention, as has been pointed out, the Padres pitcher currently in is much better against right-handers than left-handers.

Because it's raining and we needed the 80's british dude to say "let's get some runs!"

Wrong guy for this argument.

When the probability of scoring at least one run is paramount (late in a close game, in a low run-scoring environment, or facing a dominating pitcher, etc)...When runners are on first and second, sacrificing is, again, not a good idea, a finding that is due almost entirely to the opposing manager’s propensity to intentionally walk the next batter to keep the double play in order. This 10% decrease (approximately) in the scoring probability of the situation is enough to reduce the threshold across a great deal of current hitters."

To get my 2 (or 3 if they walk Lee) best hitters a chance to get a single against Shawn Estes to "win" a game. I'm clearly assuming Lou was factoring the weather in his decision.

As I said, do those percentages factor in Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Kosuke Fukudome against Shawn Estes looking for a bloop single or a sac fly? I'll take my chances with 1 of those 3 coming through.

Umm, Fontenot can play multiple positions?
