So does nyone have the Cubs W/L Record in games whenre Lee, Ramirez, and Fukudome combine to give us nothing?

Oh well, we lost to a guy we should have beat, so tommorow we need to beat the guy who was supposed to beat us.

Welcome Jim Edmonds.

Plesac is subtly ripping Marquis here, awesome.

Uncle Lou was less-subtly ripping him in the post game interview. Basically, he said every one of his starts are the same with one big inning, and when asked how Lou thinks Marquis is throwing the ball, Lou answered that the hitters are telling him how hes throwing the ball and left it at that. I really think this may signal the end for Marquis.

Did we really lose to Estes? Haha, that's pathetic. Guess I'm glad I couldn't watch tonight.

Haha we lost to Glendon Rusch. That's awesome.

Only the Cubs.

I know, only the Cubs could lose to a pitcher they didn't even face.

Oh my god.

I meant Shawn Estes. I must have crappy pitchers on the brain tonight.

And I'm sure Rusch could have beaten us, too.

I was confusing Estes with Rusch all night.

I'm going away now.

So that is why bunting is stupid

No, that is why sacrifice bunts that aren't executed well are stupid.

no, bunting with your #2 hitter is stupid. or, having a #2 hitter who you'd rather bunt with in that situation is stupid.

That makes no sense. Bunting with your #2 hitter - essentially trying to put 2 runners in scoring position for your 2 best hitters is stupid knowing full well this game may be called very soon?

Slightly more runs expected with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs than runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

That's the run expectancy chart. But the Cubs were playing for one run. I would think the probability of scoring 1 or more run is greater with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out than 1st and 2nd with no outs.

The Cubs should have to take at least two losses in the standings for losing to Shawn Estes.

Now Estes will shut us out.

No he won't. The Cubs are a Top 3 offense (ESPN has the Cubs ranked #1, due to runs scored) in MLB. I doubt Estes is going to hang onto a 1 run lead. Historically, he gives the lead back.

The Cubs will win this game.

It was just way too predictable.

I blame at least a small part of this loss on the umpires. I cannot believe they didn't delay the game at all. The conditions were miserable from the 4th inning until the 9th. Ground balls will slowed down greatly by the wet conditions, fly balls were batted down by thick rain pellets. At the end of the day, you have to win no matter the conditions, but the rain greatly favored the pitcher after the Padres took the lead and the rain came down. From the 9th inning on, the rain stopped (as was forecasted) and the conditions would have allowed them to finish the game in ample time.
