I don't know if this is the right forum or if I should even be posting this, but am I the only one that has noticed the seemingly blatant innuendo that mlb.com often uses in their headlines? I can't think of past examples, but I remember seeing multiple ones, many of them involving Wang.

This is the most recent one

Ward puts Cubs in the pink vs. D-backs

Am I the only one that has noticed the constant innuendo? At first I thought it was a coincidence but it just keeps on happening.

I don't think it's intentional, it's just bad copy-editing (which is what you'll usually find on a PR site like MLB.com, if I may be an editing snob.)

As my favorite copy-editing book put it, a good editor must have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy.

I'm guessing they just had predetermined that they were going to use the word pink in every possible headline today because of Mother's Day, and they were running out of ways to say it. I doubt the people who write those headlines are capable of any humor beyond crappy headline puns.

I wish more consumers of information would express this opinion to headline writers and their bosses. In the world of headline-writing, it's a 50/50 split between intelligent people and people who think word-play is cool.

if they have something referring to "two in the pink, one in the stink" then you'll know it's intentional

Flip it around and it describes the Cubs last three series.
