Fun survey time!

Who do you think is the Cubs' best prospect currently in the minor leagues?

Rich Hill and Sean Marshall don't count.

What troubles me about the question is how long it takes me to come up with an answer. And it's not one of those too-many-choices problems... :(

Interesting 3rd for Rich. Walked 2, but struck out the side. Threw 25 pitches, only 11 went for strikes.

53 pitches, 30 strikes. 3 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 2 BBs, 5 Ks.

Walked another in the 4th. But caught that guy stealing and struck out the other two.

4 IP, 2 hits, 0 ERs, 3 BB, 7 Ks. 69 pitches, 38 strikes

Hill gives up a leadoff double, but Fuld throws the runner out trying to tag and go to 3rd. Hill then got another FB to end the inning.

5 IP, 3 hits, 0 ERs, 3 BB, 7 Ks. 79 pitches, 45 strikes. ICubs up 3-0 thanks to a Koyie Hill 2 run double.

1. Vitters

2. Gallagher

3. Ceda

4. ...

Samardzija (meh)? Colvin (meh)? Donaldson? Veal (control)? Rhee (hurt)? Hernandez?

Final line for Hill.

5 2/3 IP, 3 hits, 0 ERs, 4 BBs, 8 Ks. 92 pitches, 52 strikes.

Probably not exactly what the Cubs wanted to see, but probably good enough to get the start Friday over Leiber.

Iowa game 2: RHP Justin Berg

Tenn: LHP Donnie Veal

Peoria: LHP Zach Ashwood (vs. RHP Blake Beaven)

Ryne Sandberg yesterday served game 1 of his 3-game suspension for his part in last week's bench-clearing incident that chattbaseball described.

gallagher isn't in the minors

but technically, most guys picked aren't either

I consider a player a prospect until he reaches the minimum rookie eligibility (50 IP or 45 days in the bigs). I'm sure Sean will get there this season.

Hmm, Murton was pulled too. And take a look at all of the moves that were made: Torres moved from CF to LF, Fuld from RF to CF, Hoffpauir from 1B to RF, McGehee from 3B to 1B, Figueroa from SS to 3B and Blanco entered the game at SS.

yeah, but the question was "best prospect currently in the minors", or else he'd probably be the popular answer.

Iowa swept the doubleheader as they won game one 3-0 and they won game two 3-2. Berg only pitched three innings and allowed three hits, two runs, 1 K/2 BB's. Cotts pitched an inning and a third of scoreless ball. Josh Kroeger had a two-run homer. Murton actually had an XBH as he went 1/3 with a double and EPatt was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI.

Peoria was beat up 12-4. Terrible line for Ashwood: 2 2/3's IP, 8 hits, 10 runs, 8 ER, 1 K/4 BB's, and FOUR homers allowed. Peoria's offense pounded out 13 hits, but only had four runs to show for it. Donaldson was 2/5.

But is the question really Hill vs. Lieber, or is it Hill vs. Gallagher? I feel Gallagher earned another start with the way he pitched today on short notice.
