i can only imagine how bad the outcry is going to be now

It's going to get ugly, thats for sure. Luckily Ronny is trying his best to force Lou's hand. Next weekend I had better see a lineup like this Lou:

Soriano

Cedeno

Lee

ARam

Fukudome

Soto

DeResoa

Pie

i hate it too that his .337/.406/.465 line has impeded this offense

in comparison to Ronny's .375/.432/.575, yeah, it has a little.

what an incredibly asinine reason to bash someone. they've been playing concurrently much of the time but that probably doesnt matter for your ridiculous argument.

Mostly his offensive play hasn't hurt us. But his 6/11 in SB attempts is really, really bad. And he had a crucial error that may have (probably did?) cost us a game Thursday.

Cubs have been letting these types of situation get away waaaaaaaaay too much lately.

Ya think? We'd be on a 9 game winning streak right now if we could hit with RISP

No I think we would be on that streak had Theriot not been playing. he has killed us with his glove, lack of hitting, and stealing.

Wow your right:

Thursday: GIDP with the bases loaded, botches a routine DP ball that results in the go ahead run scoring

GIDP?

Your are right. Bloops into a double play. Way better.

so he's at fault for another guys baserunning

wow tough crowd

That low strike is killing us.

Yay we won't score here either!

Is it just that Gameday sucks, or was the 2nd pitch to Ronny (called strike) in the exact same place as the 1st one (ball)?

So because they are both playing in a game and not in substitution of one another I can't compare statistics? I didn't realize comparing batting statistics is a "ridiculous argument". Your right man, Theriot is a much better ballplayer than Cedeno is or ever will be.

Theriot's line is obviously good. Take out his 2 CS, and his 2-3 DPs he's hit into out of his OBP and its not looking too good.

(edit: I realize you can't do that, but my point is the quality of his numbers are not as great as it seems.)

Wow your right:

Thursday: GIDP with the bases loaded, botches a routine DP ball that results in the go ahead run scoring

Friday: CS twice, including once at 3B where afterwards the circumstances led to the Cubs hitting a sac fly.

Today: GIDP with the bases loaded in a situation to tie the game.

He is killing us. Even when he is hitting at a passable level he is no more than a replacement level player. On top of that he doesn't even "play the game the right way" He just isn't very good.

where are these 900 opsing replacement level shortstops and where can 25 teams in need of one find them?

But

Right, one would be foolish to assume he won't keep producing at that level and even when he stops he will stillmake dumb play after dumb play.

so again, you're bashing him because he will be hurting the team in the future...

good to get a head start i guess.

So is it that you really want Theriot to keep starting and hitting 1 or 2, or are you just wanting to argue with folks pissed at a GIDP in a game thread?

"not good at baseball"

awesome, an original term that adds much to the argument

if our worst player has been a 870 opsing SS then i look forward to a very, very, very prosperous season.

How do you not understand that his caught stealings are hurting the team? He is giving away outs. On top of that he is doing it in front of Lee and Ramirez. And yes I am also trying to brace for the inevitable return to the norm that will happen. At which time he will kill the team because no one on the Cubs management staff wants to take the guy out.

Does anyone have tally on the amount of runners in scoring position these scroats have stranded the past 4 games? My GOD they're looking awful lately

i'm guessing 90% of them were theriot's.

Do you honestly think that he has a better chance to sustain numbers like those than Cedeno? Look at his track record. He has shown that, over time, he will probably play below average baseball. It's not a stretch for someone to predict this.
