Have we confirmed the starter? Cubs.com says Hill.

I haven't heard anything, but considering the splits for the Pirates, I pretty sure it will be Marquis (if he can go) or if he can't go, it wouldn't surprise me if Lieber gets the call. I don't like the splits for Pirates against lefties, so Hill should be push back to Philly at all cost.

Damned shame the Pirates don't have another left hander to throw at us........

Paul Sullivan confirms its Hill tonight:

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/04/hill-ready-to-f.html

Also, this is the likely starters for today:

C: Blanco

1B: Lee

2B: Fontenot

SS: Theriot

3B: Ramirez

LF: Soriano

CF: Pie

RF: Fukudome

I'm guessing the lineup will look like this:

Soriano, LF

Theriot, SS

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Fukudome, RF

Blanco, C

Fontenot, 2B

Pie, CF

Hill, P

Both ESPN and CBSSPORTSLINE, but still has Hill listed as the probable starter, but I still believe Marquis will go tonight. The signifcant different between righties and lefties against the Pirates, it too great to ignore.

I'm guessing the lineup will look like this:

Soriano, LF

Theriot, SS

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Fukudome, RF

Blanco, C

Fontenot, 2B

Pie, CF

Hill, P

I'll wager that Fontenot bats ahead of Blanco. Split the lefties up, you know.

I'll bet you a nickel that if Blanco starts, he bats 8th.

The Sullivan article says Marquis is still not over the flu so he won't be able to go tonight

I know it may not be fasionable, but I still would prefer to not give into the Pirates early season strength (and that killing lefties). I would almost like to see Lieber start, let him go 5 innings, atleast. Have Marshall pitched 2 innings, and then finish the game with Howry and/or Wood. So that's the major problem with playing two LONG Extra inning games, you leave yourself thin for a couple of games.

Give me a call tomorrow afternoon.

Wait. Are you telling me there will be no Fred stats tomorrow during the game?!?

Yup. Cubs were down 1-0 until 2 outs in the 9th I believe. It might not have been 2 outs. But either way Holla slammed a HR down the RF line and the teams played forever and a day until the 15th inning when I believe the go ahead run scored on a foul ball sac fly.

Also, that game thread was listed as one of Yanr's greatest life accomplishments upon his less than graceful "retirement" from this board. Good old Yanr.

If I remember correctly, Drew wound up catching a foul ball that (obviously) wouldn't have scored a run if he had let it drop.

But it was really close to the line.
