How is Lilly's stuff looking? Better than the first time out?

I'd say pretty average. Not quite as accurate with his curveball as he needs to be to really be effective, but at least a little better than before.

And nice Edmonds-esque dive by DeRo there.

Rick Ankiel pulled an Edmonds "catch and dive" manuever in center running back toward the wall over the weekend. The Cardinals must have a class where they teach that.

Listening to Pat and Ron. Wondering how many sponsors donate to JDRF...

"If a Cubs player scratches himself, the Illinois Lottery will donate $100 to JDRF"

Yea, I forget who the sponsor was or what had to happen for their donation to happen, I just remember thinking that it would happen a lot and interrupt a lot of innings.

I think Jiffy Lube will now donate $100 if a Cubs pitcher throws 95 mph or faster. And Walgreens donates $100 for every Cubs walk.

Did they say $100 per pitch over 95 or that they would make a donation? I remember thinking, "Yeah like $10 each time for as often as that happens in a game.".

That Cubs walk one wasn't a problem last year, but the 95 mph is the one I thought was ridiculous. It happened about 40 times during Z's last start. That really needs to stop soon.

Eh, maybe they need to stop announcing it - but it's an awesome way to get some dough for JDRF.

Lilly seems to be giving up a lot of hits/IP in his first two starts. At least it seems like he was a lot more dominant last year. Just a perception.

He was pretty inaccurate in teh side session I saw the other day too. Reed Johnson was standing there watching th pitches go by like he was in the batters box and he almost got hit like 3 times. Ted let a few F-bombs drop after some of his releases. I don't know what it is - but he's having problems with letting some slip I think.

Soriano really, really needs to stop swinging at the first pitch. Maybe his contract needs to be restructured to be based on number of pitches seen per AB.
