Hey now, Ram got the game winning RBI, that should at least warrant him being off the Bad list, even if the rest of his performance keeps him off the Good.

Hard game to watch, but these type of games is what help bonds teammates. I hate to say it, but this game was a character testing game for the Cubs. Blowing the 7 run lead, only to have the fortitude to not throw the game away, and win the game in extras, shows me ALOT about the character of this team.

I don't know about all that as I've never experienced it. But today was totally non-cub-like. Someone mentioned it after the pirates had their 5 run inning: this seems like the perfect fit for a game where we blow a huge early lead and never score again. But we did - this win actually makes me more excited than the others that we've won outright.

I know people are going to have coronaries because we had errors but - lets face it. That happens from time to time. DeRosa was good defensively last year - not a gold glover, but he seemed (without looking up numbers) to be at least avg/slightly above avg. We aren't going to be this sloppy every game - but it's nice to know we can still win when we are.

good guess - that's pretty much exactly what he was.

I stopped watching after the Cubs got up by 7, nothing crazy happened after that, right?

Nope. Quick, routine, easy game.

The Good:

Fuku

D-Lee

Liebs

Marmol

Soto

The Bad:

A-Ram

Soriano

Pignietello

The Ugly:

Lilly

DeRosa

I'm not sure how Pigs escaped "the ugly" tag. The only thing he didn't do was manage to inflate his own ERA while wetting the bed.

Unfortunate that Lilly started out well and then collapsed.

He'll get it together.....hopefully.

I just read the recap and saw that Sori walked in the 12th?! Granted, most of the lineup walked that inning, but still. What was the pitcher at the time doing, aiming for the press box? I can't believe Sori let that happen in such a clutch situation.

EDIT - And someone smack Soccer and tell him to get on the ball for next game thread. Off day or not, he's got a streak to maintain.

The CUBS drew 10 walks on a couple of occasions last season, but the last time they drew 11 walks in a game was back on Mon 27 Sept 2004 in a 12-5 win over Cincinnati at Wrigley Field.

Go CUBS !!

To paraphrase Mike Royko, an optimist says the glass is half full, a pessimist says the glass is half empty, and a CUBS fan asks when when the glass will spill. It just wasn't necessary to frame the situation that way.
