Mr. Roberts would really have looked good in the leadoff spot.

someone should print out the roberts thread and send it to hendry

maybe it will spark something inside of that beast of a man

and then we can have...

I'm amazed at how little time it took for the emotional roller coaster to hit full speed.

I know - this board is already in full meltdown mode. Its hilarious.

If you want to tease yourself with the waste that these last games of the season are sure to be, then have fun. Those of us who are smart enough to know the season is lost are going to spare ourselves the anguish of anticipation and inevitable disappointment.

It's really hard to know who's been serious, though, and who isn't. Except for IMB, of course.

Oh Roast. So young, so naive. The sooner you realize that the season is over, the Cubs are going to go 0-162, that ARam, Soriano and Theriot are going go hitless all year long and that Kerry Wood is going to give up somewhere around 200 runs this year, the better off you're going to be.

So, why is it that we always get an off day after opening day? Why not use that off day late in the season when we do our annual "play 20 games in a row at the most inopportune time" thing?

What I don't get is....how is it that Hendry can close the deal on a contract for Ted Lilly from his hospital, but can't close the deal on a Brian Roberts trade, after 3 1/2 months? :-k

After hours upon hours of thinking about today's loss, I have come upon a reason for it and, for once, it does not involve CT. I will put it in the form of one of Fred's stats.

The Cubs are 0-1 when Fred Hornkohl chooses to go to the Cubs game rather than to play-by-play on NSBB.

Little time? It's about time! I saw this train wreck when the pitchers and catchers reported for ST and Z's first warm-up pitch was a ball. These guys suck!

But Fukudome is going to hit 162 home runs this year, so it's not all bad.

You forgot to mention while batting 1.000 and knocking in 486 RBIs

In case opening day gets rained (or snowed) out - they are able to postpone it to the next day.

It also gives the players and coaches a much needed chance to settle in to their residences in Chicago.
