The reference is just about him being the one to trade Liriano, along with Joe Nathan and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski... of all people. It was topical, but not particularly well executed.

On the face of it, two starts in the minors shouldn't hurt him. That being said, this is still a little surprising, and doesn't bode well if Liriano doesn't show improvement in his conditioning.

I still am not certain what effect Sabean had on Terry Ryan's decision to have Liriano start this season in the minors.

 

In any case, does this mean he hasn't gotten his velocity back? His control? Needs to strecth out his arm a bit?

He hasn't built up any stamina, of course he is not going to break camp in the majors. I am a bit surprised that he's going to high in 'expert' fantasy drafts. Don't tommy john guys generally have a year of no command like Wood? Next year Ill draft him, not this year.

That's what the Twins think. Makes little sense to me, though. Just have a long reliever ready and let him pitch in the bigs.

His replacement, Blackburn, did a nice job in his place. Maybe Blackburn's talent helped the Twins to reach their decision. :-k
