Is that the song, "I'm not paralyzed, but I seem to be struck by you"

"Rock of Ages" - Def Leppard

"Beat It" - Michael Jackson

"Iron Man" - Black Sabbath

I've got as much of a man-crush on Kerry Wood as the next guy, but he's anything but an Iron Man.

I know, for a Chicago link lets use "Zero" by Smashing Pumpkins. You can cut it off before the "god is empty just like me" part.

awesome song, but I don't think it'd work as entrance music.

It's the song that's always on the rock stations but I'm not tired of yet. I'm surprised you don't know it.

I demand that he come out to "Feel Good Inc." by the Gorillaz. That opening laugh track could be freaky.

I actually quite like this suggestion. That freaky laugh would be great.

However here is my pick ... One Step Closer by Linkin Park. Has a killer rip on it and has the part where they say "Shutup" over and over again that could be the lyrics part. Them being from Chicago is also a pretty cool bonus. Maybe since they are form Chicago they would give permission to change the "Shutup when I'm talking to you" part to "Shutup when I'm pitching to you." That would unique and absolutely phenomenal for a closer intro.

Here's a link to the video for those who can't remember the song.

And for those of you who didn't see, a Tribune blog was written about this the other day. Here's a link: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/03/help-wood-pick.html

...seriously, man? This is the very first post of the thread:

Would they actually do it at Wrigley?

Personally, I'd go with For Whom the Bell Tolls (does any other closer use that?), as cliche as that might be . I have to admit I always thought it was pretty cool when they'd do it for other closers and was always a little envious...

Yes and this Tribune blog has in no way been been included or directly cited in almost all of our posts.

forgot that was what started this because I decided to read all the suggestions before following the link. But after reading all the posts wanted to post my suggestion. I Google searched for ideas and came upon the blog and in haste posted it in my post. I apologize for my idiotic move.

Linkin Park is not from Chicago. They are from California

Aerosmith - Back in the Saddle

Ok, if I can't get a second on this, I feel compelled to make a case.

1. Great opening riff that builds in intensity before the first scream of "I'm back!"

2. Good high energy song to fire up the crowd once it gets going

3. ClicheWeb defines "Back in the saddle" as "to return to something, some activity, after a hiatus; to return to a task after an injury or setback" (http://www.cambiaresearch.com/ClicheWeb/Cliche_Details.aspx?id=4096)

4. Maybe a reach- but a saddle makes me think of Texas, his home state.

Finally, check out the video the the NFL used for the 2003 kickoff, and tell me this wouldn't be a good song.

Looks like Kerry put the kabosh on the entrance song initiative.

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080326-cubs-kerry-wood-entrance-song-chicago,1,6313188.story

"I don't think Wrigley is that type of ballpark," Wood said. "That's more of a generational thing for closers— Trevor Hoffman started it with 'Hells Bells,' and [Mariano] Rivera and Billy Wagner and so on and so on.

"Fans are so loud at Wrigley Field in the ninth inning I don't think you'd be able to hear any noise on that sound system anyway. I've never really thought about what song I'd use."

More than 400 readers sent their suggestions to chicagosports.com for an appropriate song for Wood, but that didn't seem to sway him.

"I could probably find one or two Pearl Jam songs," he said. "And I like AC/DC. I think 'Thunderstruck' would probably be a good one. But it probably won't happen."

As usual, pure class - love the boldfaced part above.

If I had to choose an entrance song, I'd go with the evil guitar riff from Led Zep's "In the Light". Perfect complement to noise from the fans.

You're right looked it up they're from Aurora, California. I had been told by my friend who is a fan of theirs that they were from Chicago. Wow was he wrong (and me for taking his word for it).
